Just In Newp Monster Morgan`s

Here`s two bona fide monster newps that are just in and we have named so many for easy identification we are stating to run out of cool names... So with that said we need help naming these two...
Keep in mind in my collection i like to come up with names that have some of that particular coins character portrayed in the name...So i`ll try and describe as best as i can some details of each coin that even as great of images that they are can not be seen in the image to go along with what can be seen...If that makes any sense...
To start off with both coins are spectacular with the first coin showing both on the obverse and reverse FULLY PL surfaces...Absolutely watery...
The second coin and which could easily be considered a Moose has semi PL surfaces both sides but the toning on the obverse has such an amazing 3D effect and deep bowl luster that i have never seen that pronounced before is absolutely crazy! Best i can describe it picture a kids stuffed animal with clear plastic eyes that are hollow inside with a dark pupil in the middle approximately 2/3rds the size of the outer shell and when you tilt the stuffed animal the pupil rotates around inside the outer shell of the eye...Now picture that on this coin as you twirl it around in the light, the center 2/3rds of the coin seems to be poking down through the bottom of the slab and rotating past the periphery as you twirl it...Not sure if anyone will understand my stupid explanation but it`s a crazy wild effect and a very unique characteristic... Thanks ahead and hope you guys and gals can help us out...

Beautiful coins.
<< <i>very nice! but the first one is pretty beat up to be a 66 in my opinion. >>
i`ll guess that the photos exaggerate the hits and it is nicer in hand. sweet coins.
PCGS Registries
Box of 20
SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
<< <i>I never understand people who buy coins and price them based off of color with little regard to the core collectable. But collect what you like. >>
Yes, I agree 100%
That's why I'm giving up on attractively toned Morgans and will begin collecting 25th Anniv. Silver Eagles, then I can price my coins based on whether or not they have little American flag on the holder
I'm guessing those are BK pic's. What is that liquid that's on the slabs or is that an optical illusion? I have little doubt that they look like that in hand.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
First one technically has a bit more chatter but i still believe that it`s in the correct holder... And i always try and consider PQ coins regardless of the grade...coinman420 makes a very good point that the image does exaggerate the hits... In hand it`s quite a wonderful clean Morgan...
dragon that`s cool that you may have owned the first one before...Do you have any history of it?
crypto i try my best to consider all aspects of the coin that i purchase...
deltadimeman i have to be careful because we have one already called Christmas Tree and is one of my top coins but we like Christmas Candy alot! Nice going and thank you we will most definitely consider that name for the first one...
AnkurJ i don`t know i looked at the slab 3 or 4 times and it looks like a 66 to me...
Thank you MJ... Not sure what that is but good eye?
Hope to hear some names for them...Thanks

Got a huge laugh out pf this!!!! Thanks so much!!! I needed it too!
Gorgeous Toners! And thank you for posting.
I agree that the grades are generous. First coin ( though lovely) is a bit rough the grade and the second one (also gorgeous) has a generous spread of hairlines on the reverse.... (no news to your astute eye I'm sure).
Given this, maybe I should send all my "baggy" beautifully toned Morgan's to NGC and maybe I'll get 64's out of them?

That came out a little snider than I intended

Goes to show what I know!!!!
I still have a lot to learn here on grading...
Thank's for the correction and clarification

Im pretty sure color could be directly attributed to the "core" of the collectable...just as much as strike, age, metal, etc. It's just another factor. So I don't know how accurate that statement is...
Gary
Well if that is the coin AB, then I probably would have purchased it from either Larry Shepherd or maybe Ed Milas a long time back. If it came from Ed Milas then it may have been one from the Continental Hoard which if I remember had it's fair share of outstanding 82-S toners. I'm not certain of any of this though, but that color pattern and narrow diagonal textile streak really rang a bell when I first saw it.
<< <i>AB, very nice! You know. you are going to own them all eventually. How about "Key Lime Pie" for the top coin and "Christmas Wreath" for the bottom one? TomT. >>

Those do appear to be die polish lines...Good observation
It`s funny in the image they show up readily...But even with the 12X i have a very hard time seeing them...Have to tilt it just right...Other then that viewing in hand and even with a magnifying glass as hard as i try i can`t see them... Thank you though they are lovely and gorgeous...
AB
crypto no problemmo and never any worries...
Frozenink 2 more good ones to consider thanks...
dragon would be awesome if you ever can be positive about that info as i do try and compile that kind of stuff on each Morgan...Thanks!
Nice pics vette! Lots of detail showing in the color... Thanks for posting those...

This coin has killer emerald green toning on 50% of the obverse. It has textile toning that is indisputable. It has vibrant orange and magenta in the recessed area which both increases eye appeal and originality as a strong indicator of air transfer toning. And I can't remember the last time I saw a toned Morgan where the pull away toning was evident around the entire periphery of the coin; every letter, number, and star shows the effect. This is one of the most incredible rainbow toned Morgans I have ever seen. BRAVO!

Thanks for that VERY cool description and compliment of a very cool Morgan Dollar Lehigh!
On a second note the head Morgan Dollar namer along with our mini Morgan Dollar namer
The second coin which was very hard to find a name for and what we all felt describes it`s unique look is " The Christmas Wreath" which idea came from BigMoose...Thank you BigMoose! With the extreme deep bowl spiraling luster we feel that fits it perfectly as the blue/green outer area of the coin circles the inner fuchsia colored areas looking just like a Christmas Wreath...

My guess is some type of harmless light machine oil to minimize scratches in the images - a trick mentioned here many times.
