Certainly from well before the 1950s. I've seen similar tokens dated from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Expo, and this one looks older than that.

That token must have been issued by a hardware store.image

I'm not sure of the era, but I appreciate the seller listing with other tokens from Hard Times. image

hard to say what it is. there is the possibility it is made in the hobo nickel style although your token does not look carved.

Wait a minute... Are we talking 1850's or 1950's?

Our Victorian ancestors were not quite as prude as one would believe. This appears to be a conversation piece, probably shared amongst gentlemen of the era.

    Have never seen it before.

The die work does appear to be vintage 19th century.

Looks like a novelty piece that was never used in any establishment.

Screw types have a definite history of what was made when. I don't have a good reference to check, but the picture of the screw looks a little modern to me for the 1850's. I am guessing it could be 1880's.

    Hi,

I was thinking the same. I place this to about 1880-90 as well. The slot head screw itself though has been around for some time before that as you know. Looking forward tom whatever you post.

I know nothing about this token, but there are lots of fantasy "brothel" tokens. In my opinion, the more it looks like a brothel token, the less likely it's real.

Probably 50 years later - looks like some of the brothel tokens that Hollabird (sp??) has had in the past.

I'm also curious about the screw represented, I would think it later than 1850 as well but who knows?

Is that right, the seller's in Austria?
