Does this apply? From an internet search about QX5+win7

    RE: QX5 and 64-bit

    Hi Chris,

Yes, I understand that you have the old QX5 and not the newer V2 model. I also
have the old QX5 and it works fine with my 64-bit Windows 7.

It is important that you install the 64-bit software before plugging in the QX5
into the USB for the first time. If you plugged in the QX5 or tried using it
with the original software that came with the microscope you may have a
compatibility issue. Try doing a system restore to a time before the microscope
was ever plugged in. Then install the 64-bit software again and after the
software installation completes, then plug in the QX5.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

The system restore will backout any drivers and software which you may have installed already, you may also need to reset your USB profile. On HP systems you can press F10 at power up and choose reset, this will remove all USB settings, then all currently attached peripherals will need to be reinstalled at next restart. That's important to know if you have a thumbprint reader, as it won't be available.

Insted of a restore ..I'll try removing all info from the Registry..the reinstalling the 64 bit ..instead of plugging the microscpe in first..
