Collectibles/Picking/Auction TV Show Overkill?

After seeing a recent post about a Ty Cobb checkbook on The Great Big American auction last night (I never heard of the show before then), I just need to ask:

How many TV shows about collectibles/picking/auctions do we need?

When it started off with Pawn Stars, and then American Pickers, I enjoyed watching them (I know they are staged, but they were still entertaining and to a certain degree enlightening). Then the storage auction shows (Auction Hunters and Storage Wars) came on, and those were fun in their own way. But now, this is a list (probably incomplete, I will edit the post if people mention others) of all the shows in this genre now on TV:

Pawn Stars
American Pickers
Auction Hunters
Storage Wars
Storage Wars Texas (yes, I guess there is a spin-off)
The Great Big American Auction
Auction Kings
Picker Sisters
Hardcore Pawn
Oddities
Storage Hunters
American Restoration
Buried Treasure
Cash & Cari
Real Deal

There are 15 shows listed; I can't even keep up with half of them if I wanted to.

I know the networks will air whatever is working for them, but this market has become over-saturated in my opinion.

They wouldn't be so many if people weren't watching or the networks weren't making money. I find some (pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Auction Kings) to be more entertaining and informative than others, but they're all essentially guilty pleasures.

Whatever. More importantly, what's your opinion on $4.00 Ebay shipping and the proliferation of BIN's?

Out of all those shows....Antiques Roadshow is still the very best one.

No bu!!sheet, no 'characters' trying to be funny, no commercials....just bam, bam, bam, bam.

Most of these all run on 2nd-tier cable channels that struggle to afford original programming. From what I've heard, "reality" TV is REALLY inexpensive compared to a sitcom or drama.

PSA should have a show. Is this '58 Mantle a 10, or is it trimmed? We're about to find out live here on Grade My Cards....but first, it's time for a short commercial break. <audience groans>

Would you have to wait 45 episodes to find out??

Real Deal is another one. I prefer the ones that have some kind of hunting aspect rather than the pawn ones where everything comes to them.

The lady seemed real upset that her 136 Ty Cobb auto's only went for 90K. I wonder if the winner will leave the checkbook intact!!

American Pickers is our favorite by far. I love watching the hunt and seeing what they find and then learning a little about them. Then next time I am at a tag sale I might run into something they found and realize it is worth money. It is also amazing at what people have kept throughout the years.

Sorry but Hardcore Pawn has to be the worst show out there when it comes to "fake" reality TV. I would love to see that whole family abducted and made to disappear.
