CoinFacts Glitch?

commoncents05 · December 6, 2011 10:38AM

It used to be that if you were looking at the Auction Archives on CoinFacts, clicking on the link would bring up the actual lot, but now it only links to the main auction page. Have they changed it or is it a glitch?

I noticed that today as well and hope it is a temporary glitch.

some do not like deep linking and insist that links to a site go to the main page.

I hope that is not the case here.

I think the whole idea against deep linking is selfish and ridiculous. It goes against the whole concept of hyperlinks and why they are used. It seems purely a selfish, commercially based concept.

I haven't heard about this. Are you referring to Mobile Coinfacts or the host version.

A link would be nice.

Howdy Don. I was referring to using CoinFacts from my desktop computer. Just open any coin such as a 1909 VDB Lincoln cent and go to the Public Auctions link. Click on the auction lot link and it will take you to the Heritage homepage instead of the individual auction lot. It is still like this right now.

Seems to work just fine for me.

I noticed that this week too. Heritage Auctions now link to the auction homepage, not the auction lot.

MilkmanDan · December 8, 2011 1:55PM

I noticed the same thing, but from the cert page on any coin with an auction listed. It's not too hard to pull up the actual coin by searching from the auction page, but it sure was nice before when you were presented with the actual page with coin, sale price and pictures.

lkeigwin · December 8, 2011 10:23PM

Oh, I understand now.

When I look up an 1814 CBH on Coinfacts and I scroll down to this...

...when I click on "public auctions", I see this...

...but all those Heritage links immediately above don't take you directly to the lots. Teletrade and DLRC links seems to work fine.
Lance.

Yes, it looks like you are seeing what I have seen. I should have mentioned last night that TT links took me to the actual lot and that on this end it had only been noticed this with Heritage.

I don't think this has been fixed yet. Don, can we get an update?

Looks like they got it fixed today! Thanks Don.
