Post Office delivers CoinWorld in.... G-4

2ltdjorn2ltdjorn Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭✭
The post office has delivered the last 10 issues in terrible condition ... Usually with the cover shredded. Got one apology, with my magazine in a bag to contain all the pieces. Anyone have any recommendations on how to stop this?

Same here. I either get it in Mint State or Basal State. My postman confessed that he did read them a lot and now I just give him my old ones every month or so, but he promised me he was not the one destroying them...

I guess they just don't travel well.

Yeah, that sounds pretty familiar. Is CW trying to get us to shell out the extra $20 for their special packaging??

CW uses terrible paper that easily rips and tears. I guess this is their way to economize.

Yes. Change to the online version of the subscription. That what I have done. I still get the monthly magazine with values, but that's always in a "plain, brown (OK, blue) wrapper" and in good shape.

I think my PO has a gorilla working there. I offer to pay dealers to mail me their catalogs in boxes. I have had auction catalogs folded end-over-end, nearly every issue of Pennywise is folded that way...I once had a small hardcover book folded. image

I bought a jumbo mailbox so they wouldn't do this, but they fold the mail at the PO so it's too late when it gets to the box.

That would make me incredibly nervous. I guess it's the paranoid stacker in me, but outside of coin shows I don't want anyone to know I collect coins (especially people who know my daily habits).

...i promise, just as soon as the next stamp hike is implemented, all the incompetence at the PO will disappear. image

This is true and I am normally a bit paranoid as well. He has asked if I collect coins and I said I did when I was younger but my father still collects and I like to keep up on the hobby. Everything coin related goes to my PO Box now.

Can't say I've had that problem..... image

If you are into archiving them, the extra packaging might be worth it. But, I skim mine and put them into the waiting room. There needs to be something out there for the husbands.... image

The post office is notorious for delivering it in this way. That is just the downsides of having your publications delivered "without" a sealed envelope

Send it back for review. Sounds overgraded to me.

If you call CW and describe the damage they will send out another copy as replacement. Chick says to call her if I have any more trouble.
I said I would be calling every week. She says "That's what we want you to do".
I guess it's cheaper for them to send a second copy than wrap the magazine in the first place?

I get mine normally in good shape, it's just that starting with the November issues, they've been coming about a month late. The latest issue I got was Nov 21, and I've not gotten Nov 14 yet.

Damage was probably done at the processing facility that utilizes the automated flat ("flat" is postal lingo for magazines, newspapers, etc.) sorting machine, similar to the Delivery Point Sequence apparatus used for 1st class mail.
