Verlander wins MVP

So, I'm curious..... does George King still have an MVP vote? I ask because there was only one guy who didn't put Verlander on his ballot, and it wasn't King. Which means if King still has a vote, then at some point between 1999 and 2011, he decided that pitchers were worthy of MVP consideration. Or it could be that he was a New York homer that didn't want to see a Red Sox player win an MVP.

Congrats to Verlander, it was a close race. I thought Ellsbury might have done enough, but not making the playoffs was probably what kept him from winning the award.

So for the first time since 1992 (Dennis Eckersley) we have a MVP pitcher. I guess some voters are indeed reluctant to vote a pitcher MVP if there's already a Cy Young Award for them.

Verlander was the right choice. He had the best season for a pitcher since Pedro in 2000. Without him, the Tigers would not have been in the postseason.

Agree it is the right choice. The Tigers would not have made the playoffs without Verlander. On the other hand I believe the Red Sox could have failed to make the playoffs even without Ellsbury.
