25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set ERROR !!!

I have one set that has 2 error coins in it. The "Burnished" Eagle has NO "W" Mint-mark !! My Silver Bullion Coin has a "W" Mint-Mark!! Both were minted at West Point and they went thru the opposiyr presses somehow? I contated the Us Mint and they stated i was the second person to call this in and suggested i hold on to them that they could be valuable! No doubt!! I would highly suggest if you have a set to check for the missing mint mark on your "Burnished" Eagle and an added mint mark on your bullion coin!! I have 2 sets and only 1 is missing/added mint marks!! I have all the Eagles except the 1995W and this is absolutly an awesome Mint error!! Anybody else???

    No kidding!

I looked at a set online today and the bullion coin had a Proof Finish AND a W mintmark but the Proof coin had the Burnished Finish AND a W Mint mark as well!

No joke my friend !!! I could hardly sleep thinking about how many errors there are? I will eventually send them to NGC for grading and error verification. Also, since my 2 sets are not in the Sealed Mint Box will i still get the 25th designation? I am very excited about these 2 errors. And i will send them in with thier boxes and coa and then pay the cost to get them returned. My heart is thumping knowing i have this AWESOME errors!!!!

You are the man, Mr. Kennedy.

So, if I understand this, as reported, not necessarily are all bullion only coins from SF, but could be from WP and your set has a burnished ASE without a W mm and regular bullion coin with a W mm?

  • Options
Methinks someone is a tad confused because the bullion coins, minted in SF, seem to have a burnished type finish for some reason. There are threads about it already.

On another popular thread, it was well documented that the bullion coin is burnished (dimple feather, or whatever), nearly identical to the W mint burnished coin in the set; who's to say the coins weren't just placed in the wrong holes in the blue Mint case? Just sayin' and playing devils advocate.

Have you thought about sending those in to PCGS under the error service so everyone can learn from them. Maybe they will be able to make heads or tails of it.image

I was certain Russ would post that.

I do hope he is not relying on the placement in the box slots to determine which one is which, they are mostly random.

Give Kennedy a break, he is a new poster here and did not realize what would happen to him here if he made a mistake.
