Goodacre Presentation Dollars

I just came across this story while surfing the web and found it interesting.

I do not collect them but figured I would post it in case others are interested in the story. I hope it has not been posted before. Sorry if it has.

PCGS Price Guide says $875 for the SP68 and $5,000 for the SP69. Is that accurate from what you have seen? Kind of neat with the special finish/coating they have.

An ICG just sold at Heritage for $6325 including the Juice! wow!

So is that overpriced? It seems a touch high IMO, especially for modern stuff, but I guess??

Holy Cow! Had I known I would have bit up to $15,000!...... imageimage

I wouldn't mind having something like that just for the small piece of history that it represents but holy cow...no way I would want it that bad. There are hundreds of coins I would go after before that one...in that dollar range. I guess I will never own one then.

I love my Goodacre Sac $! Absolutely a stunning coin, with a really vibrant "liquid" look to it. The history of the coin is equally compelling to me. How many chances does one get to own a coin paid to the designer of that piece, and that was struck in a special finish? Some collectors scoff at these and ridicule them for various reasons. So be it. I really enjoy mine.

The recent release of the remaining hoard has depressed the prices of the 67/68's in my opinion but with only a total mintage of 5,000 it wouldn't take much of a bump in interest to propel them a LOT higher. I am not in it for the investment, so honestly I don't think too much about that side of it.

All things being equal, if you only own one Sac $ for a Type Set, this in my opinion, is a great one to have.

I bought a Goodacre Presentation Sac in PCGS 67 a few years ago for $325.

I sold it several months later for $600.

So you can make money on them!

It looks like the type 1 is the money coin. The type 2 coin is still neat but the price is more reasonable - like around $500

After reading the website and the link from the op I am wondering if this could be considered its own pattern?
