. . 1. Thanks for sharing that. It is nice when things like that happen. Congrats on getting your coin.
2. Smart to use MG to get it imaged. He assisted me to get my setup and made that process greatly more pleasurable without asking for a single thing, except a few of my images when I got started!
3. I bet that it was a pleasure working with LS. Quite a character that one. . .
Yes, thanks much for sharing-Is he with a coin company or on his own? If so which one? Thanks for a positive thread. We are so used to the negative threads when things don't go well - this thread is a plus. There are a lot of dealers like this that we don't and won't hear about. Bob
Looks like an overwhelming majority of CCG's high value coins are housed in NGC holders. Ever wonder why that is so? It may be an innocuous point, but I wonder.
It is my first practically untoned capped bust half dime but I make exceptions for R-5 die marriages and especially when it is the finest known of that die marriage
It is time to change your sig line...
FYI: I only collect naturally toned coins with original surfaces and nothing else, trust me nothing else!
I guess ...Congrads, congrades, or what ever incorrectly spelled version of congratulations you use is in order. Enjoy your new coin.
. . I certainly hope MG isn't tooooo busy because wondering what all the fuss is about has me on the edge of my seat! . . Looking forward to those images! . .
That 1830 looks very clean, no high pt rub, sharp as a tack, no field luster breaks that I can see. Would have called it a 65/66 if the toning were left on it. The luster looks alright but maybe a shade duller than I'd prefer. But hard to tell in the photo. Certainly a gem level coin, maybe 65 or 65+ by the photo. But too bright for my own tastes. More than likely this was once pretty dark at one time.
A decent coin where hairlines not seen in the photo could limit the grade. But everything else is up to snuff on this one. The darker toning is starting to move in from the periphery. In another 10-20 yrs will probably be a light golden brown watches of deeper brown. Does an intercept shield holder stop this process????
What Tdec1000 stated. We wanna know about the feature(s) of the variety that make it R5. I like Baby Busties too, but I'm not focused intently on them. Educate us, please.
the coin is consistantly one color, almost like a lite FEC along the lines of lite copper/nickel, but it is uniformly all one color, there is no darker toning anywhere on it as the photo suggests.
My eyes must be playing tricks on me then as I see toning crescents at 12:00 obv and 6:00 reverse. They don't look like shadows. And if they were, wouldn't they both be at 12:00 or 6:00?

Good to hear if the coin was as important to you as you stated a he did all the work to acquire it for you

Only 9 times, but who's counting.
And I, for one, appreciate the heads up. All too often the "good guys" in numismatics go unnoticed while (too) many focus on the negative.
Thanks for the heads up, Alan....Mike
The super wide letters of LIBERTY are somewhat interesting.
Um, even as a variety collector, I'm uhhh, underwhelmed. If you're happy, then its all good.

also for the record, the images of this in this thread are NOT imaged by MG.
The images are scanned.
You do your wonderful piece a great disservice by scanning it.
I am guessing you spent a nice amount on that little girl and the next thing you should buy would be a nice digital camera.
Decent ones starting at around $200. (i use a Nikon L110 and a Nikon D90 with Sigma DXG lens)
Your little capped bust girl is crying for images to accurately portray her; heck pcgs offers a truview service as well.

i am going to rub it into the faces of those lazy people that just scan their coins and
want to argue that scanning is good enough
credit goes to you to be smart enough to have a professional image your item
very nice coin realone
NOW i see what all the fuss was about!
