NEW JEFFERSON COIN 2065 ???
Just found this coin as I was going through my new Jefferson's for my album.
I always use a loop when ever I am looking at coins I receive, for this very reason
I have used a loop and can see the error,
but if you move the loop it looks like the date 2065
I used this type of lighting as it shows up better. It is the best my camera can do.
I could use some help with this coin.
I would like to know just what to do with it.
Alan

This is just as I received it, With a loop you can see
a gouge in the coin. It looks just like a die error
it Is to natural and deep to be any thing else.
Are implying I did this on purpose?
Because first of all I would NEVER do such a thing,
and second if you use a loop like I said you can see how wide and deep the die error is... .

No, I was not. Sorry if it sounded like that.
I am just so excited with this find,
I hope you enjoyed it

I have no idea what that means.
I am still learning about coins, so I am still behind LOL

Interesting date, 2065!
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
but it defiantly looks like a mint error to me.
But my knowable of errors is very limited I am just trying to do my best to show and describe the error.
Alan
I have added another picture for the people who first posted.
I hope it will help.
I also wanted thank everyone for all the help for a new collector

Whether it tuns out to be a scratch or not it reminds me of a story.
My grandson was searching rolls one rainy afternoon.
He kept coming to me to show me his latest 'error' find and I kept pointing out he'd found another coin with post mint damage.
Finally as he was walking away I heard him say "Maybe I should start collecting post mint damage coins."

You have no idea how much I resent what you said,
I sure as HECK did not do it myself.
I am an honest and friendly coin collector.
I thought this form was for education, and to meet friends,.
I have many friends on this form and I promise you any one of them would tell you the kind of man I am.
Who do you think you are being so rude!!!!!!
I found this coin, and was so excited to share my discovery with my friends and for all my
trouble I get a post like you put up...
I am so angry and up set, why would put up such post!!!!
What ever happened to being friendly and helpful...
I am very hurt, more than angry.
But just so you are convinced I did not do that to the coin.
I will tell you something I never speak of unless I have to.
I am handicapped and would not have the strength to make the mark to begin with.
I am going to delist this form now because I just can not deal with being made feel like a cheat and a liar!!!!
Why in God's name would I do this my self FOR WHAT REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for ruining my weekend, I truly hope it makes you fell superior with yourself.
I also wish you all the best, and the funny thing about that is I MEAN IT...
Alan
1) You lashed out at someone else who didn't even imply you did it, you have serious problems.
2) It is a typical, marred up post mint damage circulated coin.
3) It is nothing special, no one cares, including myself if you did it or someone else did it.
4) You ask the same, obvious questions all the time, then when someone responds you just want to jump them or not listen, apparently you don't listen as you keep asking the same type of questions.
Don't come on here and ask questions then start pointing fingers when someone answers.
Try not to be such a harda$$!
The only reason I did was because you where listed on my PM list.
You PM me a wile ago and asked me a question, about a Canadian magazine or something.
I just wanted to make sure you read my post, because sometimes we post a comment and never return to the thread.
That was the only reason I PM you, again I am very sorry and will never do it again. I meant no offense when I PM you.
I was very polite to you in my PM. lets get that straight first.
I wished you all the best and told you I hope you where well.
I was in no way rude to you in my PM. because it is just not in me.
If you did not want to get a response like that, why be so rude to me in your post?
When ever I ask a question I have NEVER been rude to the person who replied. NEVER
I always listen to what people say, and I appreciate them taking the time to answer my questions.
When I found this coin I though people would get a kick out of seeing it
What is the problem with that???
I just though it would be fun to share my find???
You say I lashed out at someone else, who would that be?
You know, I just hate having to say this or even bring it up, because it is very private and most people do not know this.
I have had a very bad stroke, I do have memory problems and I do ask the same kind of questions.
I don't mean it to be annoying, but I can not help it, I have to go through my posts the next day, because I have no memory of writing them
I have to do this when I get up in the morning. Try living like that, writing a post and haveing no memory of it the next day.
Please understand I don't say this to get sympathy, because I HATE sympathey, I wand to be treated like everyone else
I really hate bringing that up, but in this situation I have no choice because I want to answer your post honestly
It would be unfair to you if I did not, and I want you to know what I struggle with every day, and for the rest of my life.
But in your post you said,
"It's not a gouge, it is post mint damage caused by something sharp and pointed like a knife or blade. Who cares if you did it yourself, it is worth 5 cents and not anything except a beat up nickel. They have books, start there".
"Who cares if you did it yourself", how would you take a comment like that?
I come on this form and try to be as kind and helpful as I possibly can.
I have never insulated anyone no matter what there post, why would anyone do that.
I thought this was a friendly discussion between friends.
Not a place to go to to be insulated for God's sake they are only coins...
You said don't point fingers when someone answers, I have no idea what you mean, it doesn't make sense.
I have NEVER had anyone answer a post like that before, it was just rude and uncalled for.
I have had enough of this, I an sorry my posts bother you.
This whole thing is ridicules, all I did was ask a question, I did not insult you, in a post.
Let's remember who started this with a rude an inappropriate post, because it was not me.
But I will tell you what, you say the word and I will stay off this form, because I bother you.
It will be a shame because, I have so many friends and I love being a member.
I am sorry I respond the way I did, but ask yourself this. If I had sent that post to you, what would would be your reaction.
So PLEASE just leave me alone, that's if I can stay on this form.
I have never done anything to you in fact when you PM me I though Oh another friend, I never hear from you again.
Then as usual I just forgot bout it.
You said no one cares if I did it or someone else, well I shore as heck do.
It was just a friendly post I honestly did thing people would care, that is how I learn.
The point of being a part of this form is learning from others, at least that is what I was told when I started.
Anyway I have had enough!!
Alan

I know Alan personally and he knows what a coin with a cut looks like. You should not be so rude because he's a super nice and honest person. Why agree the coin is cut in the first place? A contact mark from the edge of another nickel should have been the first thought since nickles have smooth edges.
I do appreciate the kind words
Alan
oildvr
It is nice of you to say something
Alan
This is just silly
How about we start all over again my Friend.
ALL THE VERY BEST

Good idea thanks

Mr. Weinberg on this boards is the real expert on errors. However, I tend to agree that it is more likely than not a post mint production. However with the recent news of the US Mint employee being arrested on charges of selling/stealing US mint errors, anything is possible regarding your coin. Had the tail on the 6 been a raised area to match the "0" as opposed to a depressed/gouged area then you would have had something very very interesting.
I can't tell from the photos exactly what you have, but if you like it, that's all that matters.
All I wanted to do was show my coin, and have a bit of fun.
I just though form members would get a kick out of it.
That was all.
All the best
Alan
