    From the CNBC website:

    The Swiss National Bank said on Tuesday it would set a minimum exchange rate target of 1.20 francs to the euro and would enforce it by buying foreign currency in unlimited quantities.

    Swiss franc down 7%+ as I type.

    Until Gold becomes a "real" and functional currency, I'm gonna side on the Dollar, although I clearly see your point. I can't walk into BestBuy and pay fro a new flatscreen with Gold. Sure I could sell the Gold to get the cash to buy it, but that means I would have to have a buyer of the Gold first. Gold is still a means to get to the Dollar and until that changes, I'd rather have cash anyday.

    The $ was due for a pop. This is not surprising at all and I suspect gold is due for a bit of a correction.

    If this is news to you, you haven't been paying attention close enough.

    BO changed his speech time. Maybe knowing J6P, including myself would rather be watching a pigskin fly vs rhetoric spew, employed or not.

    "the franc" had to do this. those who say Germany will leave abandon the euro should take a gander at what has been happening with the swiss franc.

    and yes the U$D still has the longest legs, for now.

    good reasons for gold vs greenbacks and perspective.

    i am wondering if there is a tip to an iceberg somewhere this.

    so what is this? another boing-boing below $1800 again ... been hovering around 1800 for awhile now, and silver hovering at 40. borr-r-ring. I am thankful it isn't skyrocking tho, as that would be doom-ish.
