I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

<< <i>Does that say "CAESARS TAHOE" on it? Ever seen a Casino rolled roll of Jeffys? >>
I think the design on the roll is worth more (at least from a cool thing to have standpoint) than the coins.

Yes, it does say that.

<< <i>This must have been before my time! I did not know nickels came in one dollar rolls unless it is some sort of special from the mint? I have half a roll of virginia state quarters that were relased to state residents only! >>
Definitely before your time.
You know, there was a time when Slot Machines only accepted coins? There was also a time when the ONLY casino's in the country were in Nevada. Then Atlantic City. Then all over the Country once the Native American's were allowed to open them.
Given the shear volume of coins that would pass through a Lake Tahoe, Reno, or Las Vegas Casino, it was not out of the ordinary for them to own private coin wrapping equipment along with their own private labels. A great promotional tool.
Question: What do you folks think this would bring in an auction?
$1.00?
$5.00?

<< <i>I've seen a $1 roll of nickels before, though not with the same wrapper type as yours. I wonder when they were made? >>
Well, since one of the coins is a 1976, no earlier than 1976.

I guess so! I'm only 22 years young so I haven't been around all that long!

Why don't you try it and find out?-Someone may be willing to pay for the wrapper-You never know -there are all kinds of collectors around. My guess is $2.00- But i would rather have the fun of just opening it. Then that is me- I have no knowledge of it's value to someone else.--JMO-Bob

I considered opening it but after looking at the condition of the "heads up" coin decided against it.
In hand, both the heads up and reverse up coins look uncirculated but with the typical handling dullness from being on the handling edges of the roll.
I'll put it up for auction and see what unfolds.

Clearly issued by a casino for the high rollers (like me!) that played the nickel slots back when they used to accept coins.
There was nothing like the sound of a payoff when the coins used to come whooshing down into the payoff tray!
<< <i>Cool printing on the roll and a keeper just for that alone.

My grandfather was in the amusement business -- which included operating slots and those machines you see in gas stations these days that pay off in "tickets" in addition to juke boxes, pool tables, etc. He was also a decent slot mechanic and had the foresight to save a lot of his vintage machines. My mother now has one of his nicer rol-a-top nickel machines. I still like to play it when I go home, and at some point I'd like to set her up with a few rolls of circ buffs. Would look really cool in the top and box.
If I see this roll come up for auction, I'll probably go ahead and win it and toss it inside of her machine
