It caught my eye when I first saw it and I couldn't leave it sitting there. It has extremely dark fields, but they have a nice gleam to them in the lights I use for my photos. Looks pretty original to me!

If you have the guts to put it in your pocket for a week you will have a spectacular
circulated cameo. Then I'm a buyer, just send me the pics and a PM.

Just a tad dark for my own personal taste, but it definitely has charm, character, and eye appeal. image

pretty nice in my book. im 33 and one of the first things that attracted me to numismatics (coins) was the originality of some of the examples.

I really don't mind em dipped as opposed to whizzed, but i'll take them original dirty, grimy and unmolested any day!.

Naturally worn and tarnished is numismatically refreshing.

<< <i>What is interesting is there are so many members and collectors and dealers who honestly rather it were blast white, bright and shiny. They want an old classic coin to look new, fresh, like it was just minted. Those members aren't stepping up on this thread because tehy don't want to post a negative comment but it is unfortunately the way it is. I wish they viewed originality and crust as the goal and not as the result of tarnish and age. >>

I completely agree with you Realone. The reality is that if a coin was used in commerce and then put away for 100+ years this is what I think it should look like. I can't blame someone for enjoying a white coin more, but this one is nice in my book image
