Tonight's (Sun.) Teletrade auction postponed due to Irene

I'm not getting any response from the TT website this afternoon. I thought I had read somewhere (this forum?) that their web server is in New York. If that's the case then perhaps this may be Irene-related.

UPDATE: Brian from Teletrade has posted below to inform us tonight's auction has indeed been affected by Irene and will be rescheduled.

Not loading for me either. Probably a temporary issue.

Yes... Thanks for the head's up Brian!

I was getting antsy because I was unable to access your site!

Hopefully the reason for your outage is not damaged equip,
but rather a loss of power!

Haven't had access to the 'net till just now, thanks to Irene. Lost some sections of siding on our house in Mass, don't even want to know about downed trees/damage at our NH place.

I had max bids in on some of the coins in tonight's TT auction.....kinda bummed (was hoping for some bargains tonight...half kidding), but I'd have been MORE bummed if I were a consignor and it had NOT been rescheduled. Props to TT for doing the right thing.
    I'll come up with something.

I don't think TT had much of a choice here. Their server(s) appear to be down, due to power and/or other issues in NY.

Teletrade's HQ location is Irvine, CA. I believe their servers are in NY.

Not to mention that a fair chunk of their customer (bidder) base may be without power and unable to bid.

There's now an auction cancellation announcement being displayed in place of the usual TT home page.. Obviously the message was hastily composed as the hurricane has been given a slightly different name "Ilene". image

    a slightly different name "Ilene".

Pretty funny that Teletrade calls the Hurricane Ilene.

If Teletrade really had power problems, then they might also have IT management problems. They should locate their server in a professional hosting facility ("co-location") that would avoid these types of events. Even hosting facilities located in New York should have been able to operate during the hurricane, which was actually named IRENE.

The "Ilene" typo has been fixed on the TT site. It will be interesting to see whether the web site problems will carry over to Monday and the auction on that night.

Due to technological difficulties as a result of Hurricane Irene, Teletrade has opted to cancel Sunday’s auction #3126. All coins scheduled to be auctioned in auction #3126 will now be offered in auction #3135 on Sunday, September 11, 2011.

Teletrade thanks you for your understanding and is offering free shipping for all purchases in auction #3135.

Why does the auction appear to be live then?

We had a $2000 to $3000 coin bring $1325 on eBay ended Sunday afternoon. The snipe bids that were promised from two eastern seaboard dealers
never came in Sunday afternoon and this was sold at a substantial loss. Ebay has no provision to yank auctions when there is a nationwide
    event such as Irene.
