I'm so stoked for Pittsburgh! I'm leaving Florida bright and early on the 13th, and I should get to the show an hour or so after it opens! Then I'm doing Friday as well, before my Mom flies in to go to the Jaguars vs. Steelers game on the 16th (Which was the main reason I was going anyways!) Here's a picture of my Mom and I in Dallas last year at the Jaguar game!

At any rate, at least you should enjoy the show.

Hey, we try! My Mom and I started a few years ago doing one away game a year. We've done Tennessee, Indy, and Dallas!

Edited to add: I'm sure I will enjoy it! I'm helping Glenn (PonyExpress8) at his table a bit. He'll be at 529!
<< <i>Good luck invading the Steeler nation. I hope to be there as well but I will blend in amongst the Black and Gold >>
Ahh, a Steeler fan! I have a couple questions....Do you think we'll be harassed? Secondly, we have 7PM flights home...You think we'll be ok if we leave straight to the airport after the game?

You shouldn't be harrassed. Steeler fans are some of the most die hard but respectful to visiting fans not from Cleveland
Been to many games in Pittsburgh and other venues and never saw many issues.
I don't see a problem leaving straight from the game

Ok, I appreciate it! I didn't think we would. It's not like we're exactly the most threatening couple of Jags fans. We'll be with the Jaguar's Booster Club, which is predominantly old women as well. Haha.
I'm stoked though! I'm hoping to have a big win at the coin show AND the game!

Psht, I'll be wearing Jaguar stuff the whole show/weekend!

I'm actually in shock...there's a Jaguar nation? Judging by the crowd at EverBank Field you'd never guess.
Better savor those moments in Jacksonville because it's looking like there's a good chance future home games could require travel to Los Angeles.

It could be tight making a 7P flight from the game.

I doubt it.
Arizona, Chicago, Cincinatti, Minnesota, Detroit, St. Louis, Tampa, and Oakland all had lower attendance numbers than we did last year. Oakland by almost 20k seats a game! And you're saying WE'RE doing bad!? When you order it by percentage, there's even more teams below us. We also have an owner committed to our city.
Don't listen to the media who always loves to pick on us. Look at the facts and you'll see there's plenty of teams ahead of us in line to head to LA.

You think? I called out hotel (which is attached to the airport) and they said they thought I'd be fine. I figure the game will get out at 4:15, on the shuttle by 430, and at the hotel by 5:15...
Here's a pretty Morgan of mine to get this more on topic...

I just made flight reservations for Pittsburgh;
I'll be assisting PonyExpress8 again. I misplaced
our table number however .
We fly in Tuesday , October 11th
and fly out Saturday, October 15th.

Ugh, now I'm worried...We won't be driving though...we'll be taking a shuttle back to the hotel. Is it really going to take 2 hours for a drive that normally takes 30 minutes?

You can leave at the half when the Jags are down by 3 TDs

While that won't happen, even if it did I would stay and root for the Jags until the very end!! I'm no fair-weather fan!

If you've ever been to a football game (NFL, college or whatever) or any other professional sports game you'll know exiting takes a lot longer than you'd imagine. There are numerous reasons and factors for this. Get out at 4:15, shuttle at 4:30, hotel at 5:15...don't plan times so precise and don't think everything will run on time because it never does.
Remember hotel shuttles can't fly and need to travel on the same roads and pavement the 70,000 other fans are on while trying to leave. It isn't easy for the shuttle to enter the stadium area much less leave at the same time everybody else is. Often times you can walk out of the stadium parking lot faster than you can drive out of one.
I've been to a game at Heinz Field and if memory serves me right Heinz Field is on the other side of the river(s) opposite downtown Pittsburgh. Bridges are natural traffic bottlenecks and most of the routes out of the area require passing over at least a bridge or two.
In the course of a year I probably attend 5-10 SF Giants games, 1-3 49ers games (a lot more when I was younger and the team didn't suck), 4-8 San Jose Sharks games and maybe a home game or two of the Oakland A's, Raiders and Golden State Warriors games. My family also had Raiders season tickets for eight years (that's a whole other subject, lots of crazy anecdotes there). To this date I have never driven a car to any Giants, A's, Raiders, Warriors or Sharks game. Use public transportation if available and if that public transportation method runs on rails then that's even better.
As for the matter of attendance, it's only a small piece of the puzzle. The fact is Jacksonville is a very small market by NFL standards and a move to L.A. (the 2nd largest media market in the country) would give the team much more exposure, media and commercial revenue, and an audience that surpasses anything Northern Florida could ever muster up. In Jacksonville you're squeezed between the Bucs and Dolphins market to the south and the Falcons market to the north. All three of those teams have a much larger fan base than the Jaguars have. For the Jaguars (and any other small market team like Buffalo) a move to L.A. would be a very logical business decision.

Go Steelers!!
Congrats on the trip and Have Fun! Back in the day when I was doing a lot of sports photography I photographed a football game between Jax & Houston....probably 2007 or so...
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
I'm worried about you getting back in time for a 7:00 flight, too - it will be close. And I agree with the guys, our fans treat other fans well, unless you're wearing Browns or Ravens colors. Ugh, need to wash my fingers after typing those words...
Will be working at a table too, hope to meet you!
Todd and I will be set up at table #638, so please stop by. As usual, Todd will be doing onsite photography, and I will (hopefully) be selling lots of pennies! This will be my first time in Pittsburgh, and I'm really looking forward to it.

<< <i>Pittsburgh Airport is very busy , if you show up 1 1/2 hours early it will take every minute of that to make it to your gate . It will be close ... Traffic after the game will be a nightmare .... and always remember .. the Pennsylvania state flag is the one that is orange and says "Work area ahead" .. I would change to a later flight if possible. >>
Well that scares me....But I've talked to two different people at the Hyatt Regency by the Airport (Where we're staying) and they said we should be ok.
Thanks!

<< <i>You could come a couple days early, see the Penguins beat the Panthers Tuesday night, too! But not sure you could handle disappointment twice...

<< <i>Paul, how wonderful of you to have such a fun tradition with your Mom - good for you! (I still think those glasses would look better on me!)

You will have fun, it is safe to wear your colors, just do not go and visit or walk through the hilld district. YIKES!
Go Black & Gold.
<< <i>I have Steelers season tickets and live in VA. I will be attending the game and the coin show. It will be very hard to make your flight at 7 if you stay for the entire game. If you have upper deck seats you better leave in the 4th qtr. Once the game ends it will take you a long time to exit the stadium and get to the shuttle. There is also a casino in Pittsburgh for people who like to gamble. >>
Hmm. I'm sure we will be in the upper deck...I'd hate to have to leave early though...Maybe if we just start walking out and make it to the bottom of the section before everyone else does, and then rush out of the stadium? Hopefully we won't have to deal with the parking lot traffic either, because we'll have a shuttle or catch a cab outside of the lot. Here's a post from a Steelers forum I asked the same question on:
"I think you will be fine. Traffic was definitely congested getting through the tunnel to leave town but it shouldn't be too bad.
We flew in for the Cincy game last year which was a 1 pm kickoff. Our flight out was also around 7 and we were fine. We got to the airport around 5:45-6. We did stay to the very end of the game. "
-Paul
Edited to add: I just saw that my flight is actually 7:30. My mom's is 7:05 though, I believe.

I was at that Cinci game. I caught the first plane out the next morning and am glad that I did. Why worry about traffic, cabs, weather, finding the shuttle, etc. when you could be enjoying watching the Steelers destroying the Bungles?

I know, I know. That would be the best thing to do, but I don't want to miss anymore school and my mom doesn't want to miss work. Plus we'd have to pay for a hotel. I think we'll probably be ok, after talking to some of the people at the hotel where we're staying (which is connected to the airport).
