1941-S Large S Lincoln
I'm a Lincoln beginner. I'm into Jeffersons and found out there is a Large S in the Penny, Nickel, Dime and Quarter. I want to put together a nice set of 1941-S Large S's! However, the Lincoln Large S is not in the Cherry Pickers and, therfore, not attributed by PCGS.

Might someone shed some light on the 1941-S "Large S" Lincoln. How tough are they in PCGS MS67RD?
Thanks

i don't offhand know why they exist, but i'm sure with a google search you'll find a story about em. there are other dates like that too.. 28S, etc..
welcome to lincolns.... best series there is if ya ask me
.
looks like the small "S" is MMS-002 and the large "S" is MMS-004
I thought the large "S" would be MMS-003, who knew?

One of these days I'll send it in for verification ( and discovery ? )
Nice! Is this a dicovery piece? Send it to James Wiles.
I remember reading in C Daughtrey's book something along the lines of the large MM to small MM being a 1 to 12 ratio or something along those lines.
It is a lot more scarce and as more attention is drawn to these coins the more value it will have.
The 1941-Large S Mercury Dime is not rare (82 total certified at PCGS)...but finding a nice MS example is a bit of a challenge. Mine is tied with another MS64 with 2 finer. In MS there are only 6 examples at PCGS. In MS FB there are only 2 and both are MS64FB. For the year 1941 there are 5 Mercury Dime Varieties that are blessed by PCGS....I have 4 out of the 5.
Good luck!
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
In the second thru fourth editions of the CPG, the Jefferson nickel 1941 Lage-S was listed as URS-5, meaning 9-16 known. I owned more than that by myself, and I kept hoping it would get corrected (I never bought the Whitman 5th edition to see if it ever was). Because of the typo, you would see examples selling on eBay for $30-50 in raw UNC. There is also a really nice DDR on the 1941-large S nickel which is very scarce to rare.

I knew you would say that and make me dig thru boxes of crap
