If it looks like it's down in a depression, I'd say real. Have you done an acetone soak? If
it's glued on then it might just fall off with the acetone.

...i think i would take a long long look at the edge of the coin to make sure tampering wasn't evident from drilling. image

Isn't there a saying about the 1932 Washingtons? If it looks added, it's probably real?

Here's my story: recently I bought a raw 1932-S and raw 1932-D at a coin show. While waiting to show them to an ANACS rep I started talking to a collector roaming the floor. He looked at the coins and said they look funny. Then I showed them to the rep when he was free. He said one looks weird and the other is iffy. So I showed them to a dealer who supposedly is good at spotting fakes. He said both are absolutely fake without a doubt. So I returned them and got a refund from the nice seller.
Next show he still had them in his case and said he was going to send them in to ANACS.
Well yesterday he had them at a show now slabbed and graded. The 1932-D came back VF-30 and the S got a details grade of G-6 for "damage". I could buy the slabbed pair for $20 more than I first bought them raw.
I passed but the moral of the story is don't believe anyone's opinion on raw 1932 D&S quarters even the expert who can spot a fake a mile away.
