Grading resubmission ?
looking for some help
I bought a box of 2011 PCGS ms70 fs SAE's a few months back. I took out one the other day to give to a friend and noticed milk spots. All 20 had them in some shape or form. which really sucks!
I was under the impression that this would be covered under the PCGS guarantee. I called them to get the form to send them in and was told that I had to be a member to do so.
My questions are
1. Is this covered?
2. How can I get this taken care of?
3. Is it worth it to send these in or am I just at a loss?
any help would be appreciated
thanks
Nick

<< <i>It's the principle. A TPG offers a guarantee, it shouldn't cost one a membership to avail themselves of said guarantee! Finding a good dealer is proably the way to go. I expect that this glitch is a PCGS oversite and the powers that be will correct the problem. There should be no membership requirement to remedy a problem with their product. Obviously non-members are purchasing PCGS slabbed coins all the time.
Cheers!

Well put, Kirk. Spot on.

Uhhhhh. Unfortunately it does cost. Even if you are a member! $27.00 per coin upfront plus return shipping. If PCGS downgrades the coin, you get your $27 plus whatever the market difference might be refunded to you. The Key words are "Market" and "Differences".
However, these would not be submitted under "Grade Guarantee" but should rightfully be submitted under "Spot Review" which is free except for To/From Shipping expenses.
Every coin will downgrade though IMO since these milk spots are unacceptable which should come out to a sizeable check.
DO NOT, under any circumstances, submit them for "Grade Guarantee" or they will be set on for literally months!
Spot Review is closer to 15 to 30 days and can be much, much quicker.
The name is LEE!
I'll look into the spot review tomorrow. Does anyone know if a membership is required for this service?
Thanks
Nick
I think spotted ASEs are a problem with the products of the U.S. Mint.
I don't think PCGS shares the blame for that.
Now cookie crumbs inside holders, that's a different story.

Buy a membership.
<< <i>AT the risk of getting flamed here on the Collectors Universe U.S. Coin Forum I really don't see how spotted ASEs are a "problem with their product" (PCGS's) as several posters contend.

I agree that spotted ASEs are a problem with the US Mint but they shouldn't be given a 70 IMO and that's where PCGS's guarantee would come into play.

I hope I won't regret saying this but I don't send $27/coin for spot reviews. No handling fee either. Ever. PCGS customer service told me it was free (except for return shipping) and that's the way I've been doing it for at least a few years.
