This Dahlonega dealer has one of the classiest modern storecard tokens I've seen...

Ladymarcovan and I visited Dahlonega some years ago, and went to see the Mint museum there. But I didn't know there were any coin dealers in town- I don't think Dahlonega is that big a city. But I should've guessed there'd be a Southern gold specialist around, huh.
Recently, she brought this (brass?) token to me. I guess one of her Atlanta-area friends had saved it with me in mind. I thought it was eyecatching and quite nice. Very classy indeed. Mind you, I've never met or dealt with this Al Adams chap, though we're fellow GA numismatists. (Dahlonega is in the more northern part of the state and I'm in the coastal southeast, hours away).
People have commented on my personalized wooden nickels (or wooden dollars), but this guy's in another league altogether. I'm sure that's true of his coin inventory, as well.

I just asked my wife how she got this piece. She works in the Cottage Rentals office at the Sea Island resort. Mr. Adams apparently rented a cottage from them and gave his storecard to Sandy, my wife's boss (or former boss- I forget the relationship). Sandy knew me a little and apparently that I was a coin person, so she passed it on through Lenee, my wife. Funny how things circulate.
