What are PCGS "Regency Holders"?

I noted an ad by CRO on P. 44 of the the June 27 CW for a 1995 W AGE 10th anniv. set in Regency Holders. If someone would please tell me what these are and why they're important I'd really appreciate it.

They talk about what coins are slabbed in Regency slabs but not why these slabs are special. What is the big deal about them?

some people collect the various holders. you have to admit, these are the most unique looking of all the PCGS holders ever made.

It was a special "deluxe" oversized holder offered years ago at an extra cost for those who wanted to put their best coins in a premium type PCGS holder. I believe the owner could also personalize the tag on the holder with a pedigree or special info about the coin etc. The program was eventually discontinued by PCGS due to lack of interest in the Regency holder.
For whatever reason they are now considered collectibles by slab collectors as they are scarce due to their unpopularity among collectors when they were available.

They have excellent pics of all sorts of coinage n tokens/medals.
I don't see these very often, wonder what the current pop is of coins housed in these?
This set is uber cool IMHO.

LOLOL, yup, I couldn't think of any other way to put it. They actually were quite unpopular among collectors when they were made available by PCGS years ago which accounts for their current scarcity and hence their apparent "collector value" today.
