Need some help with this bust half

I have not posted anything in a while but I just bought this half today. And yes I know is scratched to hell.

Question #1 is it real or is it fake? I bought it knowing it had problems but I'm struggling with this one. It almost looks fake.....

Question #2 if it is real what variety is it . It is eaither double die or more likely double struck...

Either wway it was only $20 so I'm ok any way this post leads......

Looks like a contemporary counterfeit. I think you did well for $20.00.

I'm at least 95% certain it is contemporary, unless a modern fake can be found which matches this die marriage?

I could be wrong, but this one looks to me like Obv. 17 Rev. S, as found in CONTEMPORARY CAPPED BUST HALF DOLLARS Second Edition by Keith Davignon. Keith list only one piece known. German silver. Reeded edge. VERY SCARCE

Mozin, as per the most recent CCCBHCC Census of known die marriages there were 3 of these pieces listed (if it is a 17-S, I don't have my reference in front of me) and that quantity of reported examples is tied for the 2nd most "common" die marriage from 1830; although I'm sure that census does not include all/the majority of known examples of this die marriage or the other die marriages from 1830.

I'm pretty sure it's an O-114 small o.
Looks TOTALLY real to me, late die state AU.

Absolutely a contemporary counterfeit. Look at the date...the Mint never mad one with this comical look.

Nice pick up, especially for $20!!

Mozin is spot on....... anyone who thinks that there is even the slightest possibility that this coin is authentic, really should not be dabbling in CBH.

If you even for a moment thought that piece was genuine you need to step back, put your wallet away and not spend another cent until you get a better eye for authenticity.
