If you have limited knowledge of pre-war cards, I suggest you ask for advice prior to making the purchase.
Good luck.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
Stown, there was enough there that I knew about (Goudeys/Early Topps) that I knew the purchase was worth it, but there is over 100 tobacco cards that I don't know anything about. The highlight probably being a t205 Cobb gold border.

Would you say that the card is in "mint" condition?
There are many here that are very knowledgeable with 19th Century-WWII cards.
What kind of tobacco cards are they, baseball? if so there are dozens of different types T200-T231 and T3, T4, etc. If you want to be serious, collect and study all the info you can find, the Lew Lipset Encyclopedia of baseball cards is a good start, plus read all you can on Net54 and other site like this one too. Also old auction catalogs are great too (I have over 100). Vintage cards are actually fairly easy to gain knowledge on, but it wont happen overnight.
Ive been collecting only Pre1960 (non Topps cards, mainly PreWar), for over 30 years now. I am also a type card collector so know basically a little bit to alot about every single type of card made.
edited to add: My email is................. frank@centuryoldcards.com feel free to ask questions or advice on anything from 1863-ca1960 (no Topps, Bowman) I see you posted that there are 100 T206 cards. T206 cards are very common and very well known, there should be no problem at all find all the info you need on them. If there are other oddball "T" cards it may be a different story
PS for example...........the T205 Cobb is highly reprinted, the reprints will have the image part cropped slightly so the end of the "Tigers" and the base and basepath etc. is covered by the gold border. The authentic cards have a gold leaf like paint for the border and will often discolor (tarnish) over time and also the border will flake and show white along the edges even on higher grade examples. Also all T205, T206, etc cards are lithographed, a far different way of printing than found today, and on reprints.
Just a clip of the Little Thing you will learn over time, best thing to do is ask a lot of questions (usually before you buy). Good luck, if Raw, hope the cards you got are authentic and unaltered. Many counterfeits or doctored reprints look "old" to a newbie...
You can also get some help over on the Net54 Vintage board as well. It's a board designed primarily for pre-war cards. I like the posting atmosphere over here better, but there are some very knowledgeable hobbyists over there as well.

MOST folks on Net54 are very helpful and quite a few are very knowledgeable. There can be some rancor occasionally and it usually centers around TPG and authenticators but if you were to go there seeking help there are many people willing to help. Been a regular poster there for years. Good luck with your buy.

A person who, on a regular bases, annoys the hell out of people with their sarcastic-attitude.
