Anyone build or building a 1921 1c-$20 set

Just curious if anyone is or has built a 1921 set in any grade, have always though of doing so myself.

Why 1921 specifically? Just wondering if there is a gap in my limited numismatic knowledge as to the significance of this particular date.

THAT is hilarious. You've always thought of doing it, but already have.

1921 would be an interesting year, but a lot of the coins are expensive.

There are many great coins dated 1921, and Im sure lots of people have tried to build it. I think it would be very cool to do it!

Definitely not as cool as a 1909 set

The 1921 set is sort of cool though (even though it only takes half as many coins as the 1909 set!!)

There are a few folks on the Registry trying to build the sets, but none complete (only one retired set is showing as 100% complete).

Design-wise, this a great year, Buffalo, Mercs, Walking Liberties, Morgan and high relief peace, and Saints. You also get a heck of a lot of challenging key-dates from that year; even the commems have some semi-keys. Unless you have deep pockets you're gonna have to settle for some VF coins in that set.

Year wise, it's a great choice.

I am in the process of building a 1921 Mint set. Its my Mom's birthyear.

All the coins are PCGS holdered.

I'm missing the 21-S Cent [ I have an O/C Phila. Cent ]

Also missing the 21-S Nickel [ I also have an O/C Phila Nickel ] [ Also a Gen. 21-P - MS 65ish cleaned ]

Have the two dimes - Phila - 64 FB & Denver 65 [ ex: Eliasberg ]

My Quarter is a 64FH

The Phila Half is a 63 [ I no longer have my Denver & San Fran in 55 ] - looking for another D&S.

I have the three Morgans in 64... the Peace in 58 [ looking for a 64 -65 ]

My comms are complete... 21 Pilgrim in 65 CAC; Alabamas are both in 64 CAC's; The Star Missouri is a 63 & the Plain is a 64.

The 1921 St Gaudens is an interesting story:

In 1958 my Mom [who was Belgian] had a fascination with US Gold coins &
they were plentiful in Europe. As she grew up in Antwerp, she knew of
all the better gold and diamond shops in and around Pelican Street [ straat ].

I was just a kid at the time [ 11 yrs old ] and she brought me to see an old
jeweler she knew from before the war. She asked for her birthyear US gold coin.
He didn't have it in stock but would ask around. We left Belgium for a very long
trip all over Europe [ we had our Oldsmobile shipped over with us on the Ile de France]
and in October, we arrived back in Antwerp, and we went back to the jeweler.

He had found one in pretty decent condition - and sold it for the price of a new one
- no matter - my Mom was pleased - she had it placed in a bezel - and bought a heavy
gold chain to go with it. I remember her wearing that chain and coin for years. Many
peolple remarked about it, as I remember, and she was proud of the fact that it was
from her birthyear.

Mom passed away six years ago, and I still have the coin and chain in its aligator
box in the Safety Deposit Box , and every so often, I take it out and remember
back to one of the nicest vacations I ever went on.

Currently, her birthyear set is ranked #2 at PCGS.

Great story, Mike. I was a little let down when bezel was mentioned. I was hoping on a chain with no bezel.

Missouris are really hard to find in the condition I am seeking.

I neeed the above mentioned 3 for the set.
