Coinfest ... is it dead?

Is it going to be held this year?

No. Sadly, it is my understanding that that show has been discontinued.

The promoters did an awesome job, but I believe it was not a moneymaker for them. Just the opposite, in fact.

I liked the show very much, but have also heard indirectly that there are no plans to continue.

CoinFest is dead.

It was an enjoyable show to attend but the owners were losing a lot of money on every show.

Dang. I wish I hadn't gotten sick and missed it last year. As traveling is difficult for me it was nice to have such a good show so close to home.

Last time they were giving way 1/2 oz. silver rounds. Which was very nice of them, but probably not profitable.

Unfortunately it came about just as the coin market was peaking in 2007. It was fighting market headwinds after that first show. The first show was quite affordable and worked out
well for many local and regional dealers, including myself. Maybe trying to take it to a national level in a prime-time high cost location proved to be too much for l'il ole Connecticut.

Someone at our coin club coin show overheard Jon Lerner say Coinfest was dead, so I believe it's dead.

Maybe they can tied it into a promotion at a major show like Fun or ANA
