haven't been getting out much this month. my couple of average-joe wheats aren't worth a pic! I did, however, find out a cookie coin I found in May was, in fact, a Merc. The weight is probably half that of a regular merc and it sounds like aluminum when dropped.
its tick season out here. for some reason the ticks like me. i've been going less to avoid them. already found 8 ticks from various outings this month.
Ticks are a constant desert nuisance. Got to learn how to deal with them. Light colored clothing with pants cuffs taped at the boot tops or tucked into the boots. Long sleave shirt (white to reflect the desert sun like the arabs do). Off mosquito and tick spray on the clothing. Pay particular attention to the lower half of the body and just make it unacessable to the ticks and you'll be fine. We have about a 9 month tick season. Probably not as bad as they have in the summer in Minnesota or parts east but we have them much longer. The real nice thing about the Nevada desert is that we have NO MOSQUITOS OR NO-SEE-UMS (Chiggers). I have had my share of them detecting for treasure in Missouri. I found that chiggers and mosquitos love this white boy! I must have some of the best exhaled carbon dioxide in the universe!
I plan on getting the detector out and searching once I get my shoulders worked on. Arthritis is a big problem but I do understand that there is surgical help for the shoulder rotation problem. If I can get it (the detector) up and running again I have two treasures to search for. One is coins and the other is gold miners bars. If I cannot get this shoulder problem solved so that I can swing a dectector then I'll just have to tell you guys where I planned to get rich and just take a finders fee.
What do you think of that?
Want to come to the desert and have some fun and maybe get rich? Or, at least pay for the trip?????

Yep... ticks are nasty... but the desert does have advantages (no mosquitos etc). Lived in Phoenix for eight years and loved the desert. (did not MD at the time). Wow... a treasure hunt... Hope you get the shoulder fixed - I have known several others that had the surgery and it worked out extremely well...each was very happy. Keep us posted... Cheers, RickO
Winter has begun here, so I have better changes to go detecting. Yes, it's opposite to you friends on the States, but here is almost impossible to go detecting with good weather, there are lots of annoying people. It even turns dangerous sometimes.

Hopefully they are out detecting and we'll see their finds soon!
