Just another nightmare Paypal story.............

Sold 50 of the 2010-s proof cents still individually packed in US Mint packaging at buyers request.

7 day return period is now 4 weeks ago.

Buyer leaves A+ glowing feedback on Ebay.

Now I get paypal request for 1/2 money saying coins not satisfactory.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention..............he has removed coins from US Mint packaging, put them into 2x2 flips and wants to return 25 or so he doesn't like...............

He threw away original U,S. Mint packaging.

Were you hoping to put the 25 back into the original packaging? image

I hope PayPal doesn't side with the buyer... Good Luck!

Proof - individually packed - still in US Mint packaging

    image

Mint set, I could see, but aren't the proofs part of the larger hard plastic which houses the other coins (dime/nickel/etc)?
You sold 50 of those? That is some packaging and boxing....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I believe the OP meant to indicate he sold 50 Proof sets.

Can't help you with the rest, but in every issue I've had to deal with PayPal on, they couldn't care less what the feedback left on eBay was.

    ..............................................................................................................

Actually these were from the silver mint sets where the proof cents were part of the set.

At his specific request I sent him 50 proof cent coins each still in original mint plastic holder (half-dime-nickel-sac removed)

He popped them out of packaging, threw away mint packaging, put them in 2x2s, left positive feedback, and now wants to cherry pick best and return rest in his 2x2s.

Asking Paypal for 1/2 his money back. All 4 weeks later...................

Sounds as if the buyer may be a bit eccentric. How much money is involved here?

Perhaps he tried to grade and some didn't grade so well?

Does it really matter how much money is involved?!

If PP sides with the buyer on this one I might just close my PP in protest!

4 weeks later, out of seller's packaging, cherrypicked, and now wants 1/2 of his money back??!! You have got to be kidding!!!!

It's on the same order as some things we have seen in the Forum.

I believe a couple of weeks ago a Forum member was upset because a dealer would not refund his (high) purchase price on a Tiffany medal he had purchased a YEAR ago, if I remember correctly. Compared to that, 4 weeks, and only a refund for half, sounds reasonable.

Paypal will miss you just about as much as they would miss me. image

Can you even request half of your money back through PP?

I thought that would have to be negotiated with the seller first.

Once the item is taken out of packaging it's a done deal IMO.

Take all your money out of your PP account and make sure your ebay account is not tied to it.

    let PP refund this guy.

    Best I can offer.

    Good for you.

I am a pretty flexible/lenient seller, but for this one, I would be pushing to make sure paypal did not side with him.
Not only for the product, but to ship 50 proof set lenses like that, well, do they even fit 50 to a large flat rate or how did you ship them? Wasn't cheap, right?
I wouldn't even ask him for them back for a refund....they could be spotting if they were mishandled or stored improperly....even in just a few weeks

Call PayPal. Or eBay if this one was filed through them. If this buyer said all this stuff through the message system, you will win this claim. But, you need to call.

It is not the money ...........$75

It is just the gall of the buyer and paypal's attitude that even with 6,700+ feedback including positive feedback from this guy that we can still be held hostage to some jerks whims.

Like I said.....just another Paypal nightmare.

    Russ.....thanks for advice.....I'll call.

Oh, buy the way he says the problem is some of the proof coins he wants to send back have carbon flecks....as if I control that.

Good Luck. I think paypal will refuse his request to return the items.

How can you even be sure he is sending you back the same coins that you sent him? It's not unheard of for a buyer to return a different and inferior coin for a refund.

    ...................................................................................

    Exactly........

I'd also have to assume he got them out of packaging and into individual 2x2s without damage. (no small feat)

I had 1000 of the mint sets and had already sold 15 rolls of proof cents with no problems or complaints.

Paypal's policy of letting these things go through weeks and months later leaves us all open to claims weeks and months later.

I can see some guy looking at a bunch of ASEs from 2006 and filing claims for milk spots years later.
