ANA and Chicago, it will be fantastic

ecichlidecichlid Posts: 1,212 ✭✭✭
Quote from Julian...

"I received a message from the ANA and there will be a 52 passenger bus to take participants from Rosemont to downtown Chicago each day, probably during the WFM, 8/16-9, 7-11pm. This is being sponsored by Harlan J. Berk."

Just a bus ride away...

Check out the Chicago river tours. From their website.
"Heading directly onto Lake Michigan, a brilliant array of lights will come to life along the skyline. After a stunning sunset and relaxing trip along the lakefront, the boat will enter Monroe Harbor for a front row seat for the Buckingham Fountain Water and Lights Show." Full cash bar on board!

What they're not telling you is the average inbound travel time on the Kennedy during the evening rush.

Nor is the outbound at 11pm a guaranteed walk in the park.

The truth is, Chicago is a great city whose convention centers all stink in one way or another.

If you want to enjoy the city, Priceline a downtown hotel on the weekend. You can get a good deal and it is very pleasant.

But if you want to drive there after hanging out at Rosemont all day you may in for more than you bargained.

Chicago is a great city. Too bad the coin show has to be held outside Chicago.

...........Let's not sway the greatest upcoming event in modern history to the negative gents -

Let's instead look to the event like kid's on Christmas Eve ,

and let's let the excitement and anticipation build to a fevered frenzy as we await the Greatest Show on Earth !

........it will indeed be FANTASTIC !!

Brothers, I hate to pee on your love fest of downtown Chicago, but there have been reports of roving gangs accosting tourists on Michigan Avenue. So be careful.

Is there truly a perfect city? Many visitors don't care about where the show is held from a tourist standpoint, since they only go to the coin show and talk 24/7 about coins while they are there. Others want to see new cities etc. - I'm probably in this category, even though while working coin shows it is difficult to go to tourist things.

But at the end of the day, there will always be negatives about a particular convention city. Imho, Chicago, and even Rosemont are not bad places to hold a show (there are plenty worse!!!!)

    .......I have no desire to go down to the " Loop " to be mugged by roving bands , nor do I anticipate being abducted and probed by aliens ;

it's the Show itself that I'm dreaming of .

And each day it draws closer , the more the anticipation builds and the more excited I become image

So it's official... any form of entertainment is an hour away by bus. Even the locals (and the ANA) admit there's nothing to see in Rosemont.

Not so sure if buses on I94 during weekday evenings are a good idea. You can probably make it over to the Loop on the L a lot faster than you can in a vehicle.

Its name is "Cloudgate." It's called "The Bean." It is a stainless steel sculpture at Millennium Park.
