Hi Paul, and Dan! I see some of us are still collecting Roosey. Makes me wonder? I still have dimes but they are much older now. I went from Roosey to Busties guess I'm growing old. Fred

    Hi Fred,

Yeah, I'm completely hooked on 'em. And Nick is all to blame!image

Busties, so is that where I'm headed?

It's a great little set of 124 varieties, but almost impossible to finish. I have been working on it for about 5 years now. I thought if I was going to spend a few $ on coins then older was a better fit for me. That's a great set of Roosies you have Dan, and Nick is a great mentor when it comes to collecting them. Fred

    Nick,
Everyone says "hello" followed by "NO SALE." Maybe demand exceeds supply for the really good stuff??image

    Paul,

That package warning sounds very ominous. Be careful when you open it Nickimage

Robert, The 51P you speak of has changed hands a couple times since you've owned it and now resides in an NGC holder as the highest graded FB/FT
Roosevelt Dime. MS68+*FT and sits in the #1 NGC silver Roosevelt registry set.

Hi Paul, A package coming my way. I love getting packages in the mail, especially from a Roosie collector. Can't wait to see
    it. image

Nick - Were a number of the Roosies in the Heritage sale the former JHF dimes (ex: me, you, Steve, Craig, etc)? Including the 1954-P? The 47-P was obviously an "old friend".

4 dimes in the auction were from the 2009 JHF auction. 47P, 50P, 50S and 54P.

How did the (4) coins do Nick in the recent Heritage sale from the roughly 2 1/2 year old previous sale?

All 4 coins first sold in the JHF auction in PCGS MS67FB holders. All 4 coins were upgraded to PCGS MS67+FB
Here is how it breaks down.

    1947 MS67FB JHF $2645 Same coin today MS67+FB $3220
    1950 MS67FB JHF $862 Same coin today MS67+FB $1610
    1950S MS67FB JHF $1380 Same coin today MS67+FB $1265
    1954 MS67FB JHF $2875 Same coin today MS67+FB $3737

For 2 1/2 years and an upgrade I would say not to well.

    Thanks Nick.

Of course, many of the JHF dimes sold for (beyond) record prices back in 2009, so it is not too surprising that the % increases over the past couple years on some of those dimes are not staggering.

At this point I think I'll quote an old maxim:

"Buy quality coins." The best coins are always in demand...

I think it's safe to say the best Roosies are slowly but surely disappearing! Bill I think of you every time I see "rainbow" beside a coin on Teletrade that looks like dirt since you made the statement that when Teletrade used to tag their coins as rainbow you could bet that's exactly what they were. Thanks for buying all the good stuff before I came along ;-)

It would be nice to finally own some nice rainbow roosiesimage Do you still own the coin in your avatar? I just looked at your set and didn't see it. When are you going to finish crossing and climb the ladder a little more?

I've still got a half dozen I think will upgrade; probably at FUN since I don't like to mail my good stuff

Since this is in an NGC holder I guess it has no value. image
