Compare/contrast these eBay listings

This may simply fall into the 'eBay is weird' category, but let's see if anyone has other comments to add. Here are two pairs of listings. Each pair sells the same item. Each of the listings seems pretty much ok to me. I don't see any of the really obvious pitfalls -- the pictures are good, the text of the listings has appropriate keywords, there aren't any of the usual danger signs related to bad sellers. And yet, one of each pair is selling or has sold for way more than the other.
Thoughts?
Pair #1: 1952 West Point 150th anniversary medal
I sold this one last week for $43, with 13 bids from 5 different bidders.
Someone else sold this one tonight. Or rather, didn't sell it -- not a single bid at the $14.95 opening price.
Pair #2: Quaker Indian Peace Medal, US Mint Restrike
I sold this one last week for $26, with 5 bids from 4 different bidders.
Someone else is selling this one. With 5 days to go, it already is bid up to $112.50 with 3 bids from 2 bidders.

I saw the higher priced listing in pair #2. I think the text actually leads the reader to the conclusion the medal is older than the text in the lower priced listing of the pair. 1884 versus 1960's. That in and of itself may be one of the key reasons for the price difference.

I have to agree, images appear to have made the difference in the first set. The second set appears to be the text in the listing.
