Roger Solomon passes

I just learned that Roger Solomon passed away in April. He died from a rare form of skin cancer that overtook him very quickly.

Roger was a very fussy collector of pre-1840 type coins. He only bought the best.

I don't believe Roger participated in the Msg. Boards, but some of you may have known him. He frequented all the big shows for the past couple decades.

Very sad to hear. My condolences to his family.

I talked to him a number of times at shows. He would freely show his coins and discuss which items he was considering purchasing at auction (especially since I was not "competition"). He was very selective and highly-prized original surfaces.

Roger was a nice man who definately loved his bust material. May he rest in peace.

I fully agree. Roger was a true gentleman and a classy numismatist.

He was a serious numismatist and will be missed. Very pleasant guy.

Even got his wife to collect commemorative halves.
