Would you block an ebay buyer for this?A
A buyer makes an offer, you reject it. He make another you reject it again.
On his third and final offer it is now fair and worth a counter or maybe even an acceptance. You get the offer after you goto bed and when you wake up he retracts it.
What actions, if any, would you take? This is a board member and I am not going to say who because he never explained why he did what he did, in fact I have not heard from him since but have sold to him before without major issues.

Personally, I wouldn't block him.

Seriously, he made the offer and then he reconsidered it. Perhaps he found the same coin elsewhere at a better price and he then no longer wanted or needed your coin. Perhaps he's just fickle. Why don't you ask him why he withdrew his offer and see what he says?

Many dealers seem to think because it is listed that for some reason it should be available for wholesale prices which is not the case many times.
Good lord. Block him for that? No way, no where, no how.
I wouldn't take any action whatsoever...other than perhaps stay up a little later.
Seriously, it's no big deal. Maybe he bought something else with the funds after the offer and while you were napping. Who knows. Who cares. He withdrew the offer and its gone. Don't take it personally.

<< <i>If I knew they were a board member I would work out a deal personally. >>
Agreed. Keeping in on eBay of course as that was the venue the potential buyer found the coin on and thus they've earned their commission, so to speak in putting the buyer and seller together.

<< <i>Why not just price the coin what you want for it? >>
Because people will make offers anyway. I'd rather be able to list a price and just have a buyer buy (or not), but my experience is that lots of buyers want to haggle.

The coin is unique and another one was not purchased.
The offer retraction stated wrong amount, it was $250 high than the last offer.
My feelings for not blocking him is he did not need to make the offer anyways and was not playing any game of trying to see where another bidder was. I have seen that before.
All that said, the buyer who is known to me offered no reason as to why and has not responded to why he made and retracted the offer.
The funny thing is I did reject another offer from another buyer as this was a higher offer and I would have taken it.
Based on some of what goes on with ebay this is nothing, just trying to get an idea of what people here find wrong when it is not black and white.

Does he owe you a reason why?
Maybe he changed his mind. Or his lawn mower broke and he needs the money to buy a new one. Or his kid needs braces. Or his wife said he couldn't do it. Anything is possible, and I don't see how knowing the reason makes a difference.

I feel that, brother!
Hey, whether you steal a van and ram it into the front doors of eBay in the dead of night and steal their office equipment or are more stealth in your approach via listing and selling off-site, it's stealing.
