RichRRichR Posts: 3,984 ✭✭✭✭✭
Who's the next unmarried president who will end up with some form of Liberty on the back of the coin?

I don't think there are any other Libertys on the list.

The next unmarried pres (whom I can't seem to remember Hayse?) will have his niece on the Spouse coin (ewwwwww, I don't even wanna know).

Cool...so the Liberty subset is complete? I thought I was going to have to go in on at least one more coin at some point in the future.

None. The only other President who would have had a Liberty theme was Chester A. Arthur who instead will be paired up with Alice Paul, a suffragist who was born while he was in office but otherwise has no connection to the former President.image

How the heck did that happen? I thought that the designs were legislated for the whole series and not piecemeal.

Does anyone find the premiums on some of these coins a bit lofty? I was at the Long Beach show and the asking price for a Jackson and a Van Buren were pretty high...however the Jefferson was more moderate.

Premiums based on Jefferson in the 20K mintage, Jackson and Van Buren in the 7K range.

I still think the premiums are too low... sure, the prices of these have skyrocketed in the greysheet in the past few months. But in the long run I think these 4 coins (8 if you count the MS and Proofs) will be the only ones in the series that will be in great demand. Pair that up with the cool designs and the low mintages and it's a long term winner. I think most people who own these subsets really like them and are holding tight. I know I am (unless the premium goes much higher!).

It's only been a couple of years and demand for these is pretty high, just look at all of the BST posts of people wanting to buy them, there are 5-6 active posts trying to buy the same thing!

It really does suck... a Liberty design copying the Indian Head Cent would have been awesome!!! But all it probably took was one of the members of Congress to offer up an amendment to the bill to honor Alice Paul and now it's the law. Lame! No one in power seems to care about the collectors enough to attempt to change the matter.

That was in the orginal Legistation....Polictics at it's whatever you want to say.
Edit to add that it would be great if nobody bought any of them the Alice Paul that is.

That's who I was trying to think of; for some reason, I thought it was his niece, but I guess I got my fax confused..

I only need 3 coins in MS/PF70 PCGS FS (Jackson PF, Jackson MS and Van Buren PF) to complete my Liberty Series, but it will cost me around 6K just for those three coins. Just don't want to outlay that kind of money for these.
