Feuchtwangers on ebay at all time low....

ambro51ambro51 Posts: 14,430 ✭✭✭✭✭
Ive been watching these for over a year now, and right now the lowest number of pieces are being offered that Ive seen yet. Only 14 are listed,.....usually there are between 20-28. Many of the ones listed are fairly stale listings....overpriced and relisted over and over.

Just speculation on my part...but the nice pieces seem to be 'off the market'.

I've had an active search set up on Ebay for well over 5 years for Feuchtwangers.

14 is still quite high as I've seen as less as 3 examples.

20-28 listed every week... 14 now, 3 low... 5 years... average 15 per week times 52 times 5... that's 3,900. WOW! Feuchtwangers are RARE! image

They might be in short supply because certain collectors have been buying quite a few of them! image

Most are just R-1 on the rarity scale... Still scarcer then the amount of 09-S VDB's, 55 DDO, and 37-D 3 Leg's on EBay each week.

Point taken. However, in all that time and longer, as I have been tracking feuchtwanger one cents for 8-10 years on ebay, I have seen 1 variety 4-F, no variety 3-C, no variety 3-D, and maybe 2 3-Gs. The vast majority are the common R-1 varieties.

Edited to change 4-D to 3-D.

With "Feuchtwanger" being not an easy word to spell, how many sellers get it right? And does that affect search results?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Another good point. The "t" does seem to float around on ebay listings and I used to do searches on 3 different spellings to catch most of the mis-spellings. And I'm still not sure I know exactly how to pronounce the name/word correctly.

So if I list my 4E that didn't sell on the BST on Ebay, I will be listing a somewhat unique item.....

This is why you should use variables in your search. Simply using the terms "feuch*" and "fuech*" would probably find you 99% of all the listings over time.

No. The 4e is pretty common (4-F is rare), not as common as the 5 and 6, ghi combos, or even 3e but more common than 1 and 2a. Still, 4-E is a bit more desirable than the 5 and 6 obverses IMO. BTW, I mis-spoke on 4-D earlier and I meant to say 3-D. So the downright rare ones are 3-C, 3-D and 4-F while 3-G is very scarce IMO. All of the others can be found with a little searching as the collector demand on these is not very high. 1A and 2A are worth a small premium IMO and 3-B is underrated and tough to find.
