A surprising non seated pick up this weekend

partagaspartagas Posts: 2,056 ✭✭✭
So I mainly only buy coins that are seated and usually quarters as it is my passion. However this darling from San Francisco, coincidentally my favorite mint caught my eye. Not really rare but it passed the cool test with me. Coin is shot straight on and doesn't show the pinkish greens around the edges you see when tilted.

This coin just came back from pcgs, it was raw before this. Oh and ignore the black line on the reverse. I speck of something landed on the slab while shooting.

Great coin and the obverse has a wonderful look. Not to take away from the reverse I just think the obverse has a nice wear pattern.

I like the worn look on old gold like this-- the coin probably has quite the story! I bet it was slammed down in a bar in San Francisco in 1858 by some big shot demanding a room for a week and a pint of beer. At some point it was probably lost in a poker game, then someone got stabbed for it.

That's a keeper Todd. Very nice and original. What did she grade?

I was bidding on a couple of $20 Territorial gold coin at Heritage this past weekend - didn't win any though.

Nice to see this great looking piece. I think having a couple of these will make good conversation to guest image
