Thursday night heritage auction...

to maximize online participation in the auction, perhaps they should make the time a little earlier so that its not 1:15 am on the east coast with over 300 lots left to go through.
may the fonz be with you...always...

I may be an insomniac, but can sympathize with most normal folks here on the right coast that are not! Midwest show auctions are difficult, but these LB ones are downright brutal.

And, I've seen auctions from the east coast during times when a lot of west coasters are working.
There is no perfect world on these.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Is there a link where we can watch, or do you have to be a registered bidder to have that opportunity?

What happened with the Barber Half #3688. Did it sell or what?

I just finished jotting down the Barber Halves prices realized.
That's all I was looking at - just to see what was selling.

The NGC Micro O in MS 65 - opened at $57,500 - and didn't sell.
Most of the high ticket Barber Halves did not sell.

They could start these West Coast auctions much earlier in the day,
I agree with you on that !

Ah, what the heck, I just retired, I'll just sleep in tomorrow ... image

    It sold, for $13,000 + 15% = $14,950.

It happened to be the only high ticket Barber that sold.

This long beach is a total loss for me. I had no big plans but usually watch for opportunities. Kids were out of town the week BEFORE the auction. Now they are back and we are busy. --jerry

It is stunning! POP 1 with 2 finer. The price did go a bit out of this world though...but that is what happens with +, CAC, PCGS, Top Quality, Top Grade Stuff. Unless a bunch of others make it into this + grade, I imagine the thing will be price crazy again in 20 years like you want. Time heals.... Sure is pretty!

Bear, I doubt a bunch of 66+ or 67 grades are going to show up. 1 or 2...MAYBE! Time(20+ years according to your plan I believe) should take care of this one. It is a beautiful coin and that is why other bidders pushed you to pay as much as you did. There is a clear demand for that coin.

It is interesting that my winning bid was also my very maximum bid to the penny.

I might be stupid, but I was precise.image

The same thing happened to me on a Heritage Lot last year. 1931-D MS67FB Merc. I think I paid the highest price ever paid for that coin...$5K including juice. It was my absolute MAX bid. Had one more person bid just one more time, I would not be the owner. PCGS Price Guide says $2K since there are 42 in 67FB with zero finer. Mine is a bright white example with just a tiny tiny tiny hint of toning. I have never seen another 31-D so free of distracting toning. Just about all of the other examples I have seen are fairly ugly. I am likely burried in it...but like you, I do not plan on this coin selling again for 20-30 years. I think I will be ok. You are in a much better situation than myself because your coin is much more rare population wise. You can't hit a home run every time you go up to bat. You'll be fine.
