Help-How to send coins from England to the USA?

My friend is sending some silver coins.Heres what he wrote:

"I must say that I am bit nervous about sending them because I just don't
trust the Post Office - especially since, for the USA, I have to write on
the outside what is inside the packet."

That seems insane:Attention All Crooks!! SILVER COINS INSIDE!!!!
Just wondered what you guys would do?

Thanks

I describe coins as "processed planchets" on customs forms.

For description write "numismatic items" or "metallic merchandise" or something similar. The former is what the British Royal Mint writes on their shipments to me.

Unlike some other Western European postal services, UK Royal Mail is fast and reliable.

I have had no problems receiving coins from England. The sender never writes the words gold, silver etc. Having been stationed in England with the USAF I trust the UK's Royal Mail more then our USPS.

When I got some Irish coins from a friend in Ireland- a big sack full, about 20 coins, there was really no question that is what it was, because he just put them in a ziplock inside a bubble mailer- he put "hobby items" and it got to me perfectly fine.

There was no silver involved, but I don't think that makes much difference.

Shipping FedEx to here seems to draw the ire of customs in that I seem to get 35.00 charges every time...

I've sent stuff all over the world, from the US to the world and from the world to the US...I always write the word "numis" on the description. Nobody will understand it but it is legal because technically it describes the contents.

As long as the value is not higher than I believe $45 and/or it is not send registered customs won't care about it.

Now, a package with a $2000 value send registered has about a 99% chance of customs opening it, with all trouble coming from it (custom duties are the least of your troubles).
