Nysoto, did you stop by my table? I don't recall anyone introducing themselves with your user name, but sometimes you forum folks like to be a little discretely "covert" - just wondering.
And John's talk was definitely entertaining, but I think I'll hold off on the puppy stew. I would have liked to attend a couple other programs, but having a table sort of tied me down. All and all, the EAC convention was an interesting and very enlightening event especially compared to a regular coin show. It was certainly evident that the club put a lot of work and effort into making the EAC convention a very educational experience for everyone. There are so many people involved in the EAC who have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and it is our great gain that they are willing to share that knowledge and expertise with the coin community. So I for one want to thank the EAC folks for putting on this convention, and for all they do to promote our hobby.
Charmy, I stopped by your table with Mozin and GAB, I was the tall funny lookin guy with glasses. I have known Mozin for years, but just met GAB at the show. The bourse traffic was very light, which was unfortunate as there were some very nice coins besides the copper and colonials. Mark Emtman has a great selection of bust coins in all denominations, John Dannreuther and Jim McGuigan had some nice early gold, and a few dealers such as John Kraljevich had some early medals that you don't see that often.
edit - the auctioneer was Brad Karoleff, who is the long time editor of the John Reich Journal and a bust coin specialist.
Robert Scot: Engraving Liberty - biography of US Mint's first chief engraver
Charmy some of those electros go back to the 1800's and are very much desired, many are pedigreed and can be traced to famous coins. I didn't look at those in the sale, although the catalog is on my desk.
