New PCGS Reholder (not Regrade) Idea - From Regular Holder w/ 70 First Strike to Secure Plus keeping

First, all those who are going to criticize the Secure Plus service, let me go ahead and say "the points are one as an anti-theft idea, and for the time being anti-counterfeit idea" in that no SP holders have been pointed out on eBay yet (to my knowledge) and people might feel better buying a coin in a SP holder (until those counterfeits appear).
So, I would like to convert my Regular holders to Secure Plus Holders.
It's not limited to the 70's, but the 70 designation requires some extra care making the idea a little more problematic, and keeping the First Strike designation would also be important.
So, could PCGS offer this service for a price?
What are the pitfalls? besides potential damage to a 70?
(DW? HRH? no need to answer right away... mull it over)

<< <i>You can do that currently... for $45.
Is it a regrade with a danger of a lower grade?
I'm more looking for a re-holder with the photo and coin fingerprinting thrown in.

Sending a coin in for a reholder opens it to be re-evaluated, too. It's nonsense to be afraid of sending in a coin because of a grade change. Either you're collecting the coin or the plastic. If you have a coin in a 70 holder that doesn't deserve to be in a 70 holder, it's all find and dandy if it never goes back in and thus never garners the deserved 69, but it means that the only thing you bought was the plastic without regard for the coin inside.
Submitting 2009 UHR MS70 for Secure Plus:
- Will it be automatically re-evaluated for PL designation?
- Can it come back less than MS70?
- Would it be regrade?
Would appreciate the advise...
I am becoming a little cynical of all grades are set in stone.
Some may see it as a 70, others at a 69.
Actually, as I'm also collecting a set of 69 in the First Spouse series... an upgrade on them would really throw me off.
I'd rather it not be a regrade, and just a reholder with the SP specific services.

59. Q: If I send my PCGS coins in to have them put into the new Secure Plus holder, can my coins be downgraded? And to get them into a Secure Plus holder, do they need to be sent in for Regrade or can it be done through Reholder?
DW: The rules for PCGS Secure Plus are no different than for Standard grading. Coins sent in via Regrade are guaranteed not to go down. Coins sent in via Reholder are guaranteed not to go down. You can submit any PCGS-holdered coin – either Standard label or Secure Plus - to the other service via Regrade or Reholder under the exact same rules. The only service where you can receive a + grade is PCGS Secure Plus.
And remember the coin has already had the cost of grading and the First strike label added to it.
I would see no benefit unless you feel the coin can possibly make the PL designation this time around.
Thanks for the info.
This part of the FAQ needs to be corrected. Now, either service can receive a Plus.
<< <i>The only service where you can receive a + grade is PCGS Secure Plus. >>
As for the First Strike, I trust that would be preserved, since it comes to them with the First Strike designation already in place.
<< <i>Which carries the greater premium "First Strike" or "Secure Plus" is the question?

These questions had to come up.
I hope that a reholder will keep a FS label into the SP holder.
I also would think a Secure Plus 70 FS might have a little premium since, as far as I know, none have been counterfeited.
a Secure Plus 69, I'm not sure about. Some still mistakenly believe a Secure Plus grade can never be changed. It can change. So, will a 69 in a Secure Plus holder sell for less on the mistaken belief? Or maybe the Secure Plus 69 may also pull a little more on the lack of counterfeits??? I'm not sure.
And while I'm not planning a sale, one may be forced upon me. I'm just thinking a little ahead.
<< <i>You are guaranteed no downgrade in a regrade; if it does downgrade, they send you money--they send you a check to pay for the difference, or they'll buy back the coin. Given that the UHR 2009 Saint is a modern issue, you should be able to buy a replacement on the off chance that the coin did downgrade. Finding a replacement would not be easy, but would be a lot easier than with, say, a high grade 1870s double eagle. Downgrades and accompanying payoffs are rare, but if it happens, it means that the coin should not have been in the holder in the first place.

OK.
you an see how much of a newb I am when it comes to a regrade or reholder. These are things I've never done.
I have sent back PCGS 70 coins for presidential review. Mr Hall agreed with me. Though that was several years ago and they no longer offer that service. I buy/collect both the plastic grade and the coin together.
