Does anyone know whether this site is legit? Appears to be a nice betts reference available, but wonder if all rights have been secured on the work, photos, etc. The vague info makes me wary... www.coinsusallecollection.com

Regarding the book's text, my speculation is that the website's use of the book's material would come down to a fair use argument. The book is 330 pages long and the website quotes much less of that (also much less than is shown in Google Books). The main page lists mostly excerpts and the extend pages show some page scans. While I'm not a legal expert, from a fair use perspective, it appears the site is quoting and providing scans of the book verbatim with attribution, but in much less quantity than the book itself or as shown via Google Books.
It's interesting that Google is selling an eBook version but their version appears to be scanned from the Harvard collection and not an original from the publisher.
Regarding the photos, it would be useful to see if anyone recognizes those photos as belonging to someone and to contact that person.
Of course, the other option, is to always contact the site owner.

This book is in the public domain as it was published before 1924,
the current cut-off date for copyright protection.
The photos are a different matter. All or nearly all appear to be from various Stack's sales, particularly the Ford auctions. They're copyright-protected works.
