Can this WWII nickel be helped?

Quite some time ago I posted this nickel asking if there was any way to get a better look at the damage. I am not sure if it is a lamination error or some type of post mint damage. It is hard to see because of the tarnishing and I wonder since I have never dipped anything if a drop in some acetone followed by a bath in distilled water can help me see some of the details better, or is this poor thing doomed?

Acetone will not do anything to that other than get any goo off the surface.
I bet the color and look stays the same and it won't show anything new.
There is no risk in using it on that coin but no big benefit either.
It's easy to still find a less damaged example.
Enjoy the coin and and all it's gone through to end up with you.
