PCGS Price Guide Morgan Question

The official PCGS price guide shows an 1883-O Morgan dollar in MS63 at $52.00. The same grade in PL is $56. and the same coin/grade in DMPL is $62.
Why is there so little spread between the different non-PL, PL, and DMPL designations?
I ask because this coin in true DMPL with MS63 surfaces is an attractive coin a little bit scarce. I'd think there would be more than a few dollars between them?

Some have huge jumps and some dont. There should not be any 63's for 62 bucks, what year is that?

I think you are looking at the 62, 62pl and 62dmpl prices, not 63. This is seen in the price guide across many dates in 62. For some reason, the spreads really start growing at 63 and up. I agree with golfer, you cannot really buy dmpl's at that price and the spread in reality is greater. The price guide seems to be off for low grade pl's and dmpl's, especially the lower grade rare pl's and dmpl's. There probably isn't too much data available, however, as most pl's and dmpl's you see sold are 63 and up (I know you can always find a few lower grade ones listed, but the bulk of them are higher in grade).
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

I believe the OP mentioned 1883-O in his post you quoted. image

  • $52
    $54
    $56

Those are the prices for an 1883-O in MS62 grade for regular; PL, and DMPL.

I'd love to purchase a DMPL PCGS Morgan in MS62 for $56. image
