Latest ebay bucks deal

I got an email that ebay was offering 10% ebay bucks for purchases using IE 9. I installed IE9 (I guess they got what they wanted) but it looks like you also need windows 7. Anybody made this promotion work for coins? --Jerry

It's about time for me to upgrade my PC. First I want confirmation it works for coins and doesn't have a $25 max or something like that. --jerry
I now run Mozilla Firefox for web browsing and pages load faster and have had no problems what-so-ever.
Soon as I can afford it, my computer and the other 3 laptops in the house will be traded for Macs and we'll be done with the Microsoft Hostage Situation.
My current Imac works great, it's just that my 4 year old has confiscated it for online gaming.
Loves me some shiny!
<< <i>The deal is also valid for Vista. >>
Are you sure ? My email stipulates Win7 , i wonder...if they can tell i'm running Vista so say 7
<< <i>I thought about trying to get the coupon on my sons laptop which has Win7, then remembered that I put IE 9 on my laptop which is running Vista, and it caused nearly every webpage I went to, to give this message... "encountered an error which caused internet explorer to shut down".

FYI that if you got a message like that, it is likely some other issue on your computer causing it and just being exposed by IE9 as, if it were IE9, then there would be a ton of reports on that.....
People will do what they will, and many will complain about "free" gifts (anyone remember BING cash rewards and the 30%+ cashback and how there were folks complaining/whining about it and that it was Microsoft doing it?).
I just wonder, if doing this, does the 10% ebay bucks show up as being valid BEFORE you hit the purchase button? Ie....I tried it with IE9, and am on the ebay bucks, but I only saw the 2%, so I didn't purchase yet.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

IE9 works ONLY on vista/Win7, and, yes, there are ways to verify, but I doubt they are doing it.
Though, James, if you are saying that Win7 sucks (and I really disagree with that as I have been running Win7 on all my machines for a LONG time and I stayed away from vista for even longer) and you like Vista.....well, ummmmm, then you either have a bad install of Win7 or something else is going on......

Same experience here.
However, when I click on the "Learn More" button on the email the page it goes to has this message:
"Looking for the eBay Bucks — Internet Explorer 9 promotion? The offer is available only on Windows 7. Please read our FAQ"
Makes me think they see that i'm not running Windows 7 and don't even give me the details...I guess nobody here on the forum is running Windows 7.

The last part isn't true
I tried it on a Win7/IE9 yesterday but didn't complete for 2 reasons:
1) Still saw the 2% ebay bucks when I looked at an auction and wasn't sure if I had to complete it or what in order to get the 10%
2) Wasn't REALLY wanting that item, enough to buy it at least, as I was just looking to see if this 10% was working....

Same here. I switched about 5 years ago. I will never buy another PC.

Both operating systems came pre installed , i didnt like Vista either but was forced to use it so became complacent as it's only a stepping stone to the internet for me anymore. My ol'lady has 7 and i probably got tired of microsofts bs changing things around and making it more a media platform so i didn't like it from the get go.I go as far back as the pre windows Dos days and have seen a few OS's , microsofts are easier for most people but have progressively went downhill since 98 in my view.Since then only XP escaped my criticism , doesnt make me right of course , just my own opinion.

The first day they sent the email , the FAQ included W7 and Vista.
Now Vista has been removed and it only W&.

mmmm old silver for under spot
Ooops just seen the update on the vista..i could use the Mrs's lappie if i ask nicely though.
Personally, I think WIN7 is terrific. It just takes awhile to learn -----OJT.
It does seem to have some compatibility issues.
TMobile might be wishing it was never developed. I am in a contract with them and they are getting the AX shortly.

<< <i>OK, I just did the IE9, pinned ebay on my task bar. Now what? How do I confirm that I'm in on the deal? Through an email? >>
All the directions say (and all I did) was click that pinned ebay icon, and pay for an item as normal. A few days later you should get the 8% (and $5 for the first purchase) extra rebates in your Ebay bucks page. I haven't received an email or anything.

I have still not received any extra 8%, which would have amounted to another $200+ in eBay bucks!!!
No worries though, 2% is still fine and the purchases I made are still making me happy
