Thin markets ... what do you do if you are offered such material?

Over on the precious metals board there was discussion of premium prices being paid for certain types of bullion rounds and ingots. With $46+ silver I find it hard to believe there are many players in such a market.
Let's say someone offers you some supposedly valuable items from a thin market numismatic specialty that you know little about.
What do you do?
Decline them completely?
Take a chance by buying them at the sellers asking price?
Buy them at a BIG discount and then attempt to dump them on eBay?

All glory is fleeting.
