In a deflationary/selective market I would expect the key dates to hold value or maybe even go up. Anything that's available in quantity as this date is (>1000 pcs in MS65) is not going
to be able to hold its own. Whomever is buying all the common date MS65's is only thinking about the silver in the coin and being the most common dates available. If your
1902 were a low pop MS67 it would probably be holding its own. There aren't enough gem Morgan date set collectors right now looking for an MS65. The few high end collectors might
fight over the dozen or two MS67's and possibly the high end 66's. They won't care about 65's. The same effect is being seen across most dated REG set series.

    They do now. image

Looks like a few other MS65 coins in that price range took a dip. I guess if more money is going into the more mass-marketable coins, the next tier up may take a breather?

Because of the run-up in silver prices, nobody collects Morgans by date anymore.

  • They lowered the price in the guide because, in their opinion, the coin is less valuable in the marketplace than before.

Ohhh please, that's nothing! I paid a little over $5,000 for a coin and the PCGS price guide says it is only worth $2,300. You don't see me on here crying about it. imageimage
