Bullion is a good investment right now imho, but it is more fun to own truly rare coins.

Lack of funds...the reason I have not purchased anything in months!

I have a rape whistle..it took me an hour to remove that little ball inside the whistle so it won't work.
Semi attractive, natural born women are more than welcome to ravage me at anytime.
Carring the Glock 40 in your front pocket wouldn't hurt either.image

Are those the same rating agencies that gave AAA ratings to bond products stuffed with NINJA subprime mortgage loans? >>

When ones priorities change. That can be due to financial problems, ill health

of family problems that require all available funds. As these issues arise in the

economic stressed time we are now it, you may find, that your coin collection is

in fact the only readily available source of liquidity you can tap into. I was faced

with one of the above and my collection was liquidated and my collecting has

    stopped, stone dead.

    1) Fakes become enough of a problem. As is, I have slowed way down because of fake slabs and better fakes.

    2) TSHTF which in plain terms means 25% of the U. S. population dead or crippled and U. S. A. no longer appears on current world maps. If I am in the 75% that survives, I doubt I will be one of the privileged classes that has time for hobbies when the rest of the world is going to heck.

    3) Personal issues of which there is a long list. Failing eye sight would take away much of the pleasure. Poverty means no money for coins. Homelessness means no place for a collection. Other issues might be serious enough to limit hobby time and energy.

  • If I evolve into a transhuman extropian superconsciousness with no need for or interest in the affairs of mortal humans, I might shift my collecting focus away from coins.

If the USA ceases to exist, the event(s) would make the old USA coins even MORE attractive and VALUABLE since no more genuine ones could be minted. Sort of the forbidden fruit.

Depending on what happens, such event(s) could make the Daniel Carr MORE OR LESS VALUABLE than the present prices.

Frankiefanatic - the quality of your comments is somewhat lacking however, I see that you just started posting so I will chalk it up to inexperience rather than just inability. You might want to consider sitting back awile and thinking before you actually post; some people find thinking gives outstanding results. I think you would benefit from it. Give it a whirl, for us, please.
