Little disapointed in our hosts service/ update & apology

Let me start by stating this is not a knock on there customer service as it was very quick and polite and he tried to work a deal but the results are lacking.
I traded one of my core collection for a decent if not a little dipped out 1873cc Trade in PCGS VF35 plastic because it had a CC error that I have been looking for which is a Misplaced date in the denticals. I sent it off to PCGS to get the MPD FS301 put on the slab so I could use the it in my Registry set that closest to matching my collection.. I know the set make up is riddled with errors and I sent an email to the registry site like they ask around the time it came out(about 1 1/2 years ago) and am still waiting for it to be corrected of these faults
1. Coin weights are off but I would admit that is subjective
2. they don't have mutiple Rev types listed for the 1875 s(type 1/2)
3. They don't have the type 2/2 listed for the 76p
4. They have a 1878 s DDR FS802, this coin does not exist and is an error in the cherry pickers book that just takes a picture of a different part of the FS801 coin and calls it 802 (this should have been my first clue of pending problems)
Well I pay my 69$ or what ever (reholder + attribution + shipping) to have the coin graded and they come back and decline to attribute it but say they will put Minor MPD on it for me, this perplexes me because I am 100% sure it is what I think it is so I call customer service and they say it doesn't reach the definition and I remember that the current CP book has the wrong picture on it for the type . There are 2 MPD's for the series and the both fall on the 73cc mint one with a bold 187 and one with a clear top of the number 7. FS-301 and FS-302, fs301 being the 187 and fs302 being the 7. The book has the picture (incorrectly) has the picture of the lesser one listed as FS-301 and no mention of FS302.
The CS rep tells me that he asked their attribution manager and he said it didn't pass muster so I figure that he must be going off the Cheery Pickers guide so I explain that it is not the best sorted section and ask if he could take a look at it again plus I hear that the new CP book is coming and Trade people are expecting several corrections that being one. I was told that if they do correct it I could send it back mechanical error but that was final.
I first shrugged it off but I thought about it and I guess I kind of hoped that PCGS would know about even the small stuff or at least have more then one book to look at when they are unsure. I paid them to know it all and put it on the plastic so I can play the game but it just came off as taking my money about a series they dont care about nor were willing to take the effort to check it out not like I am battling a large population they had already holdered with none graded. Variety attribution is the only section I have had problems but this is 2nd time in a row with issues, I give up

The right people may read this thread, see that you're right and make the proper correction(s).
You've got an interesting set and I always find it kind of neat when a collector branches off into a set that is still under research and discovery.
other resources in which they use for attribution. I think a better plan would have been for
you to email either mr hall or mr willis and explain your concerns rather than make assumptions.
just my opinion seeing as you placed this out there.

I assumed, then asked and they confirmed. This isn't a scorched earth approach, I called customer service and there resolution while fair but left me a little underwhelmed. I mean if I had to chose between a good start but inaccurate published set without any SME on the staff to cross reference the 1 book they use or the way it was for the first 25 years of operation when they didn't recognize anything other then s/cc and the two 76 doubled dies let alone the two different hub types obv & rev's; I chose this way. I know that they are all coin guys and it will get right soon or a later I just wish they would not have taken my money on the sooner part as I can wait for the later.
I think I just need a break for a little while, I have been buying too many coins and chasing something that doesn't even mater and I couldn't complete anyway as I want a mix of chopped and unchopped coins in my set. I got a coin that I didn't really like the look of because of it "filled a hole" and then to have to defend a coin that I don't even love to get it in the "right" plastic shows I have lost sight and need to take a step back and a little time off. I you like what you collect it it doesn't matter what they say or if it raw of encased or what that tomb says, if you don't like it I can see all the other stuff mattering quite a bit.
I have since received the coin back and have been corrected on the facts so here goes.
One of the forum members I look up to has since informed me that I had the FS backwards and the FS301 is the (7) and the FS302 is the (87) in the denticals. And while it isn't listed in the main TD section in the CP book it is listed on page 445 and even though I have had a ANACS 73cc with the 87 listed as the main one and ATS also lists the 87 as the main one (check Dick Osburns web site for examples) that CP and PCGS have it right with the order and I was wrong, being I was wrong I am sorry I assumed something as fact when I didn't really know.
That being said the coin came to me with just MPD on the holder and I got mad again as why would they leave the FS 301 or 302 off the holder what was I paying them for and what about the Registry???? It hit me just then that I sent it in to get the MPD on the holder and they did that and I was getting upset over a points system that doesn't really affect my collection. To make matters worse I had gotten to the point where I was buying upgrades for points and not off of how they matched or went with my collection. So to top it off I guess I owe PCGS a thank you as 1. I learned something I didn't know about the series and 2. it bought the hobby back into perspective for me.
I think I will still take some time off and clean out my collection of the dreck (sorry couldn't help it) and refocus and get the TD's back to where I want them to be.
You're a good and fair man, crypto.......not to mention your Trade Dollar expertise is highly recognized by the numismatic community!!
As MJ would say...."Stay thirsty my friend."
I say....."Stay honest my friend."
That is stand-up of you to post the update and even state that it helped put things in perspective.
I know that I have, recently even, been almost ready to cross the sanity barrier on price to buy an upgrade, for points for the registry, instead of thinking "does it match the rest?" "is it really a coin worth it when we have one that looks just as nice, maybe nicer, but a couple points below?"
Best to you with your continued collecting!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Not being anything like a variety specialist this may be worthwhile or not. While variety attributions are certainly valuable, it seems they appeal most to specialists who might easily be able to attribute the variety to their own satisfaction. A little extra bonding with an another specialist when you examine the coin together. Your attribution on a sticky label may actually establish your credibility more than a holder attribution.
Once again, buy the coin, not the holder.
one for maintaining sanity. Good safety tip.
