Clifton NJ Show

Hey all passed the old bridge show today for the Clifton show.
Got there at 1200p today to find 45 dealers with alot of buying going on. The one thing i noticed was there was alot of dark side coins. more than im use to seeing ( dealer wise). I would say 30 to 40% were dealers in just foreign non US coins. This cut my day down considerably. Anyway First table I hit was a couple that actually went out of the way to say hi to me as i walked by glancing. I later found out this was the only table when it was quiet that say hi as i walked by. So i stopped by made a few gesture buys a 1864 copper nickel holed cent and a 32 lincoln. for 3.00 total. Continued to walk some more and found 1 dealer who had interesting items in the 1 ,2 and 5.00 bins Cherried a nice lookVG F 1824 large cent for 5.00 and a 1829 large cent that had the date practically worn off but still identifiable for 2.00. Anytime you can get 2 large cents that both you can read the date for under 10.I call that a score. My taken feeling of the day was a 1876 CC Dime for 20.00 in VG. I saw it for 28 and the dealer said how bout 20. This is why I need to come prepared and NOT go out side my comfort zone. anytime i see CC for 30 or less i think its a great deal. later i saw the retail guides had it at 22. so 2 dollar savings wasnt that great. win some loose some i guess. Among my other purchases, a elongated Bergen county NJ coin show penny . I figured This would be good for my rubber chicken and he enjoyed the coin
I also bought a 2011D shield cent that looking back i wasnt happy with , and 2 gettysburg quarters for my book . 2 US occupied Phiippines coins one from 1907 in .75 silver and a 1945 20 centevo .75 silver were my interesting cool buys. along with an ike and dick political pin from what im guessing 1948.
After all that I picked up the quarter 2x2s i needed for my coins and thought the one dealer who was nice enough to say hi ( and only one to say hi) deserved a 2nd trip back before going to see my gf. once I got back I picked up a few more coins for my dansco book. 1917S 1922D,25S 30S and 1933. another 40.00 that i wouldnt have spent otherwise had he treated me like how all the other dealers were.
I would do this show again but would keep in mind that i wouldnt be staying as long as i would have with parisppany due to the lack of amount of us coin dealers.
