Revised website looking for feedback

ecichlidecichlid Posts: 1,212 ✭✭✭
We just finished a new revision of Rich Uhrich's website Rich Uhrich Rare U.S. Coins Inc.

Looking for feedback. Positive or negative. Of course, Rich is an authorized PCGS dealer!
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

Very CRO'ish... I LOVE their new website and think EVERY coin dealer should emulate their design. I like your new website. I really appreciate seeing thumbnails on the main page. Great move! image

I'd lose the 1990's color themed text. If it's supposed to be a hint at "toned" coins, I wouldn't get it as a new customer, and the people going to his website specifically for that don't need it. image

Some nice coins, seems like a decent website.

header should link back to home page.

Lose the lime green and hot pink, it's very jeffk.

The pictures are not very nice.

Perhaps the old site is in your cache? Or I'm not sure what you mean?

If you mean the header image, I agree.

Logo change was not an option and has been Rich's logo for some time. I don't know who jeffk is.

It's what a business site should be. Simple, and easy to navigate.

yeah, just as it is time to re-make web sites every now and then, it's good to change colors and logos and fonts.

    they need updating. sell it.

I thought the layout was very easy to browse. Very user friendly navigation with clear direction on where to go to get the info you are looking for. Straight forward and simple. I also agree with the pink and green. I clicked on the newsletter and it caught me off guard. It certainly got my eyes right to the body of the newsletter though. I like the clean and no-nonsense calendar. No bells and whistles (good) except for the image viewing pop-up. I'm always fond of websites using Arial font. Easy on the eyes.

    My suggestions:

    1. Consistent photos. Maybe if they were all cropped. The slabs showing in the images make some images fill out as squares. Raw ones look like circles. I'd like to see all squares or all circles, not a melange of different image shape "appearances". This is more of a job for the photographer than the web developer though.

    2. Remove redundancies: Having "Check it out in <Whatever category>" under each coin on the homepage words up the page. Try just making the title a link to the coin listing and in small font below just write <Whatever category> as a link to the category page. That'll shave 60 words off the valuable whitespace serving as a clean invisible border around each coin, add an extra link right to the coin, and preserve the functionality of the code already in place.

    3. Having "Other Coins" kind of downplays the nice coins you have listed in that area. Also, when I clicked on other coins, it came to the page showing the body description of the "Other Coins" category. It took me a few seconds to find where the categories under "Other Coins" were. Maybe have the category links in plain html somewhere in the body of the "Other Coins" category. I would even go so far as to say put a gallery just like on the homepage of coins in the "Other Coins" categories there right when you click on "Other Coins". That's what I was expecting.

    4. On the "Print this Coin List" link, there is no way to preview it before wasting my valuable printer ink. Should go to a page showing it then a "Print" button. Or, open the printable list in a new window and have in the <body onLoad="window.print()"> which would load the page, allow you to see it, and automatically open the print button.

    5. Not a fan of the pop up when I click "inquiry" and to find it's been added to my cart. Not what I expected. Should have add to cart and inquiry seperate functions. Also, when I clicked on it, there was no inquiry, only my shopping cart.

That's all for now. Nice smooth website. image
