as this has turned into nothing more than a trollfest. Am I really to take seriously that people who LIVE on this website day and night every day of the week dont have a camera and don't know how to take a picture and upload it or suddenly dont have time to do it when they LIVE on this site day & night? PLEASE!

Theres countless members i'd buy from on their word alone here , some long term members struggle to put up a link so a little understanding is required that we are not all on the same level of being tech savvy. It's notable it's the same people every time reworking or laying down laws on the BST , and here was me thinking SportsMod1 was the law around these parts.
Of course you are entitled to an opinion but there's an easy option too which doesnt involve threads in caps , ya know.

A poor or mediocre quality image of a nice coin hurts one's ability to sell it more than no picture. Some of my best purchases have been on the word of the seller, without an image. Therefore, I would recommend allowing people to sell coins, as they please. When the OP has his own forum, he can make the rules.

If it's generic, modern, no toning/error/etc, then I could care less about a picture. How many 2010 SAEs do you need pictures of?
If I am buying something like that, then I don't care. If I am selling, and someone cares, they can ask for a picture.

If it's a graded coin, and isn't from the last 10-20 years, I may put a picture up.

Since it's easy to just walk on by, I don't understand the big cry over this....the seller just loses potential customers and that is their choice.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

A picture is worth a thousand words but I've bought numerous items based on descriptions only and have been very happy.

As do I, and when I request a pic, they send it to me as a courtesy. They don't get offended thinking I am accusing them of anything. I just want to see a darn picture of what is being sold. Here's why...because if I dont like what I see. I've saved both of us the time and aggravation of returning it. The only party that wins in that is the Post Office because they made $ both ways. Posting and/or providing a pic via the web some other way solves all this potential waste of time.

What is the big deal? I am not trying to change any rules James, it's just a simple damn request that I feel needed to be said. It's not that hard to do either, so what's the big deal? Is it because you don't have in hand what you are trying to sell?
We've all seen that happen here all too often recently (CK & tee135 to mention a few big ones). Just posting or providing a pic some other "web way" solves all this. It really is just that plain and simple no matter how you want to pick it apart with troll tactics. That's all. If you don't want to do it when you sell on the BST, fine, that's your choice, but my interest in what you are trying to sell just went down dramatically.
If you trust your sellers that much with a $5k coin and/or Lot, God bless you. I do too with those I've dealt with before. >>

Firstly , i commented which in retrospect was foolish as i have no intention of being involved in a debate on the matter. I recommend you consult the mods with your concerns rather than inflammatory messges on a bst forum pieces , seriously. If you think i'm using troll tactics to pick apart what you say ..well..i think it compounds my reason for taking no further part in your wee rant.

Yes, taking the time posting pics and quoting a bunch of very reasonable prices, and then having the 'interested' party disappear. Some guys love to photo and show case their coins, and are quite good at it. I'm not. It's time consuming and in most cases the coins look much better than I am able to capture in a photo. However, I am good at grading and accurately describing pieces, price very fairly, ship coins on approval at times, and offer unconditional return privileges. Two partial orders returned out of ~200 transactions, the majority of which were sold sight unseen (and I'm not talking about bullion items). Still, I can appreciate those who need to verify die varieties, or if a coin has a certain 'look' that fits their set, and will try to cater to them as needed.

What's even worse is when someone uses a forum specifically to be used as a "buy/sell/trade" forum and uses it for a commentary board on how everyone else posts.

Exactly... my next BST post will have no pics just because of this post image and I'm sure I'll still sell just as much as usual image

Where was it supposed to be posted then? I will move it there. This is the BST, right? Does it not apply directly to what is done on the BST? The U.S. Coin Forum is a joke. There is no other Forum to DISCUSS (what Forums are intended for in case some of you have forgotten what Forum means) this.

And it's not a big deal, or a rant or anything of the sort. It is my extremely simple REQUEST, nothing more, but some of you sure are trying to make it be more than that. Please tell me where it should be posted for discussion on this site (not the U.S. coin Forum) and I will move it there.

I used to have a problem posting pictures. Couldn't figure out how to do it, but I could attach a photo to an e-mail so I would ask interested members to give me an e-mail address. Others may also have this problem.

I like to post pics whenever I sell my items, or try as hard as I can to get the pics... But what's the point, when no one has interest, or will even consider buying after bumping my thread daily for months on end without a sale ??? image

There is absolutely no reason to do this very simple thing as a courtesy to your potential customer, other than, you don't have the items in hand.

    Other than:
    Don't have a camera handy.
    Suck at taking pictures.
    Item is in the SDB.
Don't have a photobucket account or other hosting software.
Don't think it's necessary to take a photo of $20-30 worth of 90% or a few slabbed ASEs.

SO according to your statement, everyone who fails to post a picture is a scammer?

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

What a joke. Just never mind it all. It's where I stand on the issue, there's always going to be folks that want to argue over something that is a courtesy to others...so be it.

    Here

Isn't this the 3rd or 4th time you have tried to impose your feelings on how YOU think things should work on others here?
And, many of us do NOT feel the US Coin Forum is a joke....maybe you do because so many don't think the way you do and tell you that

I really can't stand the U.S. Coin Forum...

That did it for me. Starting a whine thread by slamming the USCF is going to put you behind the 8 ball. The USCF is the backbone of this community.

This is hiliarious!! Here is my take on the issue if anyone cares. There is alot of folks who are not technologically savvy. Lucky for us some of them just learned how to use the internet in the past few years or we would never get some of the insight from these experts in the numismatic field.

Some people don't feel it is worth their time and effort to take photos when they will be subpar and make the coin look worse than it actually is. T

and then some people like me try to post photos when they can but I have 4 kids that deserve my attention and fooling around on the computer for hours on end every night takes away from them. So if I really think I need a photo to sell the coin I will get it on. If I don't think it needs to be done it won't.
